Ebay Selling Question

Post » Sun May 13, 2012 1:15 pm

I just sold my Dragon Ball Z Season 5 on ebay. I bought another one on ebay because I thought I lost my copy but just found it a couple weeks ago... Figures!

But anyway back to the point. I sold it through paypal, my ebay account says I am still awaiting payment, and the payment hasn't shown up in my paypal account either. Since this is my first item I have sold I'm not totally sure if I missed a step. I sold this last saturday. I tried to contact the buyer to see if they have already paid and asked if it is still waiting to be approved, but they haven't contacted me back.

Am I supposed to do something? Or am I just supposed to wait for the payment to show up in my paypal account?

Just wait until payment confirmation. Don't send until that occurs.

It should. I usually receive an e mail, after it has been confirmed.

If you did not specify a payment due date on your auction, like 7 or 10 days, or the option to require immediate payment, sometimes people will wait up to 2 weeks to pay. Don't mean to sound discouraging but that's been my experience...early on...
You should always set a reasonable due date clearly in your description, like "Payment is expected within 7 days. If you cannot pay within that time, DON'T BID."
Simply wait for the payment...PayPal will send you an email.
If an unreasonable amount of time goes by, send an email to the buyer and threaten a non-payment case.

I should add that most people pay within 48 hours using PayPal...if they are on the level. Otherwise, they are simply waiting for money but couldn't pass up on your aution.

Good Luck!

I usually pay within 2 minutes, when I win something.

After a week or two of someone not paying and not responding to anything, I would file a non paying bidder or whatever it may be called and relist.

I read this as "eBay selling question" rather than "I have a question about selling things on eBay".

Ok so the guy hasn't paid in over 2 weeks now. Do I simply just relist or do I have to do something else first?

I would simply relist it. You could contact eBay and open a non-payment case, but you're probably better off just re-listing.

Keep in mind that even after you receive the payment, it will still be pending until one of the three following scenarios are met:

1. The buyer leaves positive feedback
2. The delivery service confirms that the package has been received by the buyer
3. 20 (or 30, not totally sure) days have passed since the end of the auction

On occasion, the buyer will grant an instant payment, however the payment remains pending for the 3 previously mentioned scenarios for the protection of the buyer (if the item is defective/not as advertised etc.).

Just make sure that you are clear between the difference of not receiving any payment from the buyer, and the payment status as "pending."
