3 nerdy pointless facts

Post » Sun May 13, 2012 12:05 pm

did you know...

1) a green leaf is every single colour apart from green? (because green is the only colour it reflects)

2) a red car is every single colour apart from red?

3) if you put a white t-shirt into a dark closet and close the door, it turns black?

(i just felt like posting this for some reason, it boggles my tiny limited brain)

have a nice day!

(feel free to post any random facts for my entertainment)

1. Color is reflected light. So it really is green.

2. See above.

3. It doesn't change at all. It's still made of the same material and reflects the same wavelength of light. There just isn't enough light for us to see the color clearly.

Yeah, it's kind of weird... To be more accurate, nothing is any colour.

When light bounces off of objects, some of it is absorbed, and some of it is reflected. What is absorbed, is not reflected. What is reflected, is what we see. So the green leaf is absorbing every other colour but green. The chlorophyll reflects green.

(I hope I'm right. I'm pretty sure I am right, but I could be wrong.)
