Hello friends i am new to this site. i am actually newly buy this game and when i start playing this game my pc unexpectedly http://forums.techarena.in/video-games/1439910.htm. It "started", but "BAM", closed without notice in a blink of an eye. I've had this team for two years and a half without finding a problem, and since the beginning of today Skyrim suspect is the cause. Any idea what could be causing this? I worry that my PC may be damaged if it continues. i search for this on many forums and found some post, but still need some more help.

It shut down? It did not restart again? Sounds like your system got to hot? You can try to turn your system on again. If it gets to hot again it shuts down again.

if it does get too hot it will shut down...skyrim is a monster on a computer. trying to run certain games with below par equipment or without the minimum requirements can also crash a computer.

also check to see if you have other programs running at the same time by hitting Ctl alt del and bringing up the task manager...and exiting out of non essential programs. (dont do this if you have no clue what you are looking at) sometimes anti virus software has a game mode or whatever and will interfere with anything and everything it doesnt recognize as being "safe" or if that mode isnt activated.

if your computer shuts down a few times like that you could do some damage. IE lost files etc etc...

I agree that it's probably your graphics card. I've had the same thing happen. I took the side off my box and it's been fine, since then. Lots more airflow.

Is your computer in a hot room?

Pretty much this. My old PC would sometimes shut down on Oblivion about every 6 months but all I had to do was take a can of air and blow it out good and it worked good as new. Computers are dust magnets and over time can collect a lot even if your house seems clean. A game like Skyrim will push it over the limit and cause the shut down. It's just your PC trying to protect itself from damage of overheating.

Also you could update your drivers.

In my experience when a computer shuts itself off or reboots while playing a game it is usually because it needs a beefier power supply. Not one of those $20 billion-watt cheapo brands either. You need something good. I recommend Thermaltake.

Do you have SLI enabled? Whenever I turn on SLI on my 580's Skyrim crashes my entire computer causing it to restart, disabling SLI results in much lower FPS and very [censored] mouse control with massive ups and downs in sensitivity due to it being a console port from hell (still the best game ever made).

Intel i7 920 @ 4.0ghz
EVGA X58
6gb Triple Channel DDR3 @ 1800mhz
2x EVGA GTX580's in SLI
WD Velociraptor 300gb 10,000rpm HDD
Windows 7 x64 Ultimate
Silverstone DA1000 1000w Modular PSU
Logitech G51 5.1 Surround Sound
Creative X-FI Titanium Fatality
Asus 27" 1080p LED 2ms

Skyrim is quite graphically intensive so it'll be drawing a lot of power from your graphics card causing it to get hot. Generally the cooling fans inside your PC should start spinning to keep it cool but it may just be that your PC is clogged with dust, especially the fans, and its causing it to overheat and shut down. Try opening the case and blowing/brushing out all the dust from the fans and vents. Another thing to try (although this can make your system unstable) is to flash the BIOS as the BIOS software you currently have installed is not running one of the fans properly. On my old PC I had this issue when playing games due to one of the fans not working and flashing the BIOS fixed this.

You shouldn't do this. Running your pc with open case hurts it more than it helps as there won't be the intended airflow and lots of swirls where heat can accumulate.
