the only thing that creeps me out is the thought of ghosts and demons. like for example i can easily walk through a pitch black forest at night (which i do regularly as a shortcut to my parent's house) and not worry about axe murderers.. but if i start thinking about ghosts i get chills down my spine. funny thing is ive never seen a ghost, but im aware that murderers do exist

I'm the same, and it doesn't help that there are a bunch of abandoned old houses in the forest near where I live.

Other way round for me. I could quite happily walk through a forest that was said to be haunted. I believe the power of positive mental thinking can keep the nasty ghosts away, but my heartrate hits the roof if I'm forced to go out after dark around here. Makes sense I guess, two people were murdered practically on my front doorstep last month. No amount of positive mental thinking will stop me getting strangled on the way back from the takeaway.
Real life scares me far more than a ghost story could.

I think that paranormal stuff is all hogwash. For some reason, I've never heard of a ghost story involving another animal, yet hear plenty about people. I say it's just a moronic way to console a fear of death.
Black dogs are animal apparitions. Bound to be a few relative to specifics, however yeah I tend to agree it's fantasy. Never found the mentally ill creepy or disturbing, sometimes dangerous at times. However by and large those that take advantage of them for whatever reason tend to disturb more.

I tend to find Charlie Sheen's home video rants that he made after he was fired from Two & a Half Men rather creepy. But that's probably not what this thread is about.
Swimming or wading through murky water is something I'll avoid if at all possible (germs, bacteria, can't see any threats), so film scenes that capitalize on that kind of stuff can creep me out, if done well. If I can't see the bottom, I won't swim in it. Yes I'm a weenie that way.
@Capital: there are plenty of plenty of animal apparition reports out there. But I respect your dismissal of the paranormal even though I disagree.
OT-There is a graveyard I drive by on my way home from work. It spreads out from both sides of the road. For some reason, I always get a wierd uneasy feeling as I pass by. This doesn't happen when I pass other grave yards. It makes me think some poor soul(s) has not yet found peace in the afterlife.
