So what do you people think the factions will be?

Empire, Stormcloaks and the Daedra (join Molag Bal his side) maybe?

On a second thought, i have a feeling the Empire and the Stormcloaks would become allies on that moment.

The Empire and Molag Bal cult if i were to guess. I'm sure there will be tons, however. I just hope I'm not forced to pick sides.

As long as there is some Altmer supremacist faction I'm glad.

All hail the Master Race!

Well I heard a rumor from some articles that mentioned a lion, dragon, and a "bird of prey". They also stated it would be announced in May 2012, so there's that. The particular article I found is from March.

The Stormcloaks are a regional faction, and I think it's unlikely TESO will be restricted to one province.

The fact there's factions at all is depressing. Ever since WoW introduced the idea of being a part of a pre-defined faction, with pre-defined opinions and goals, EVERYONE is copying them.

Intelligent MMOs used to give players the tools to create their own factions and allegiances, war for territories and castles/strongholds, tax the surrounding lands, etc. Why are developers so opposed to giving us tools like that again? Give us the tools to create our own factions and political wars, and it WILL happen. It will also lead to a rich and storied history created by the players. Look at EVE Online's history of conflicts.

EXAMPLE: In Skyrim we have the Empire and the Stormcloaks. Now you might think "The Empire almost lopped my head off, and the Stormcloaks endorse racism. I don't like either of them." An MMO with pre-defined factions doesn't care what you think, and forces you to sign up with one of them. But if we have the tools to create our own factions with like-minded players who share similar views and goals within the game world, suddenly you have a far more interesting and open setting.

Guys 1000 years ago in the TES verse, there was no empire. This is 2nd era Tamriel, Potentate Savirien-Chorak last ruler of the second empire was dead by this time. and we're still several hundred years before Tiber Septim's birth.
The Aldmeri Dominion did exist at that time though.

I know nothing of WoW so I have no idea when that concept was introduced, but keep in mind that they've been working on this game for a very long time now.

I believe they said it would be 100 years before Skyrim (not 1000). In that case it will probably be the Aldmeri Dominion, Empire and Argonian State.

It's most certainly 1000.

I'm guessing Empire, Aldmeri Dominion, and a third wheel that sort of lies outside of those two as an alternative type thing.

Akaviri. Of course it's Akaviri, the Imperial Throne was possessed by a Tsaesci at that time.

It's most certainly 1000.

Oh. Well, there goes my theory then. Even so, the Argonian State (Black Marsh and Morrowind) could still be the third faction. The Empire and the Aldmeri Dominion seem pretty obvious.
