My thoughts and why single-player gamers should give this ga

Post » Sun May 13, 2012 10:52 pm

I was a Nintendo kid growing up, from Pokemon Red on the original GameBoy to Wind Waker on the Nintendo GameCube. Sure I have a Wii now but rarely play it anymore.

When an old "friend" showed me Oblivion, I was hooked and so fourth hooked on single-player RPG. I despised MMO's with the exception of Guild Wars because the community is tolerable and no monthly fees. Its what got me into PC gaming after all!

Now don't get me wrong, hearing rumors of TES online years back gave me skeptical thoughts, to the point where I was worried. But sure that faded away after no word but now that TES Online is confirmed, I have new thoughts an why single-player faithfuls should at least give it a chance!

I am still a lore buff in training, and I have read GREAT things in lore about the second era so I am excited to see that. But what makes it better that it is in the 2nd era is that your legendary characters the Nerevarine, COC, or Dragonborn are unaffected. Plus, we get to explore Tamriel again!

But lets get something clear, TES Online is being made by Zenimax Online Studios, Bethesda Game Studios has nothing to do with it so don't hate on Todd!

But Lady Nerevar in another post put it best into my thoughts as well: Cautiously Optimistic.

I am only worried about how it looks and hopefully no monthly fees (Like Guild Wars)

But optimistic about the lore and Tamriel as a whole!

There's a reason a lot of people here play almost exclusively SP games. We aren't very social. Many of us don't get much sun. I think I have forgotten what the sun looks like. I am going to wait and see what comes of it.

But you don't have to be social. I remember in Guild Wars that if you cannot get a Pug (pick up group), you choose your own heroes/henchmen and there are chat filters so I don't have to read spammers as well.

Hopefully TES online will have something like this.

I digest stories alone and like immersion. That's already a strike* on all MMOs. However, if it's a pay-by-microtransactions game then, since I need a new PC dearly, I might get a gaming rig when I replace this and give it a try. Maybe. Because it's TES.

*My system for going through life is pretty simple: under 99% of circumstances, one strike and you're out. svck it, Thai North.

I need a new rig too. And more money if I want to get this, GW2 and Skyrim DLC

My issue with games like this is that there'll be too many squeaky children and noobs running rampant, ruining my experience.

Optimistic, but a few things to say. I use a laptop but don't know if it could run a new game. Lore and Tamriel is exciting, rude people running about everywhere is not. I really hope that it looks good though. I would be willing to give MMO's a go for TES.
