ETA on Alpha sign-up?

Post » Mon May 14, 2012 5:35 am

Taking bets here, folks. My bet is "Soon?."

Also, a question to the devs: How are you planning on doing Alpha invitations, and when are you gonna send me mine?

Wrong, this isn't Beth we're dealing with it's now Zenimax online. And every MMO goes through a beta, to think otherwise is preposterous.

Apparently it's getting a 2013 release, and I expect a late one at that.

I think this is one of those situations where past behavior isn't the best indicator of future plans.

However on a few occasions Bethesda Softworks has run closed betas. Morrowind's first expansion had a small invitation-only beta, while Bloodmoon had a larger beta that was publicly announced and people could apply for it. More recently the Creation Kit had a small beta.

MMorpg's need beta. Even if it were only for a stress test on servers.

I'm starting to cross my fingers to be in :P

They would be insane to not have a beta test.

Generally, an MMO is going to have an early Alpha (invitation only), Closed Beta (sometimes invitation only), an Open Beta (s'all good), then finally release. They do this because, by nature of the type of game, they need a long time to gather mass amounts of data on things such as server load stability, game stability, odd glitches throughout the entire game, balance, and other such issues.

They would be foolish not to do the same thing.

My question too, hahaha. I haven't done alpha or beta testing in a while (only got to do it before because I knew a developer at SOE) and would LOVE to test this game. Plus, I'd love to get off the PS3 for a bit and back on the computer. And because, well, you know how important it is to get the 26-year-old girl opinion of things, LOL.
