Confused about intro

Post » Mon May 14, 2012 3:16 am

When all chaos is breaking loose and we are given the option to follow either Ralof or Hadvar into the keep I want to know is one a Stormcloak while the other isn't? I recall people mentioning that you either choose to follow the stormcloaks or imperials in the war. Here is the thing though.. it is supposed to be a civil war in Skyrim and Imperials don't really belong there.. How can it be a civil war if they don't belong there? I am a bit confused now. That being said, is Ralof a member of the Stormcloaks or Imperial Legion? I guessed Stormcloaks all this time since he was commending Jarl Ulfric for his leadership and strength at the block. Either way, I want to follow Ralof because he is so compassionate and true. I really like this character already and I can see myself just gravitating towards his charisma. People are complaining about the voice acting but in retrospect it is amazing compared to Oblivion. 11/11/11

The Imperials are the higest body of government in Skyrim, with the (recently killed) King beneath them. The Stormcloaks are rebelling against the established government, so that's why it's a civil war. It's not like they're fighting invaders.

Ralof is a Stormcloak, and Hadvar is an Imperial Legion.

They're at war with each other. Why? Because the Stormcloacks believe Skyrim should secede from the Empire while the Legion is trying to crush the rebellion and keep Skyrim in. You'll find Nords in both sides of the conflict.

There's no foreign invasion, it's not Skyrim vs. Cyrodiil.

Thanks everyone. It is going to be harder for me to follow Hadvar considering they didn't really give him as much interaction with Dovahkiin like Ralof had. honestly it took a few times of watching the video to even know there WAS a choice haha.

When is there a choice?

Right after both Hadvar and Ralof confront each other outside the keep you are asked to follow either NPC...the PC chose Ralof by accident I believe. It's a little confusing because the PC is so bad at playing Skyrim that it ruins the viewing experience a little. If it was Todd or experienced players like you and me then it would be more clear and fluid.

Lol, just went back and watched it. I clearly saw it this time. Very hard to spot due to the PC being all jittery.

I remember the GI issue stating that Esbern was the rescuer. Are there any remnants of the Blades in Skyrim or was that cut?

I'm sure they didn't cut Max von sydow from the game, but they either changed the intro around or GI was just told that earlier in development when they didn't have the intro completely sorted out yet.
