Is there any confirmation on the removal of "The gate is opened from somewhere else" messages and trying to find levers/buttons in the dark? I always found the incredibly annoying having to double back and hunt for that tiny blue square.

Why would anyone want to take out something that involved interacting. It is a game. What do you want, in lieu of this? If you don't wan't interaction, watch TV.
