Boycotting TESOnline

Post » Mon May 14, 2012 7:36 am

Title says it all.

I'll use every social media outlet at my disposal to actively boycott this and encourage others to do the same. A crappy WoW clone (which is exactly what we're getting based on the leaked screenshots and info) is a waste of all of our time, and just shows that Bethesda is willing to sell out their franchise to an un-tested development team at Zenimax just to make a few extra bucks.

Corporate greed at its finest. And I won't contribute to it. You won't get a dime from me, or anyone I know.

I was going to buy the Skyrim soundtrack as well, but now I won't bother. I probably won't buy the Skyrim DLC either after this announcement, and the fiasco with it being delayed release on the PC anyways.

Bethesda, you did such a great job with Skyrim, I really thought you guys had figured things out and were one company in a sea of really crappy game companies that was doing the right thing. Then this hits.

When it fails you'll understand.

EDIT - I should mention, I own the collector's edition of Oblivion, as well as the really expensive collector's edition of Skyrim. I also purchased Morrowind twice, once when it came out, and once for the GOTY edition. I also purchased Tribunal, and Bloodmoon when they came out as individual expansions.

I also own every DLC for Oblivion.

I am a very loyal customer. But I'm not going to put up with this sort of greed.

Go you! I will wait for more information myself before I decide to try this. I don't like MMO games and am also pretty upset at this.

Who said they are "willing"? Maybe they are not but don't have a choice. Zenimax is da boss.

Sepret? I'm not even sure what that is. Perhaps you mean separate.

Sure, that's fine and dandy. But this shows that Bethesda is willing to sell out their franchise. I don't like sellouts and corporations that are obviously being greedy just for the sake of greed itself.

But the fact that the people that support it can't even spell really speaks words for their target audience.

This is the best thing that's happened to this franchise.

After reading the info (which reads as one giant excuse: "It's hard to implement this iconic part of TES gameplay into and MMO, so we just did this part like WoW" for almost every single aspect of the game), I sure as hell won't be buying TES Online. It sounds like another SWTOR already.

But it's made by Zenimax, not Bethesda Game Studios. I'll definitely be buying Todd Howard's next single player TES game, and Fallout 4. I just won't be buying this Online game from an obviously amateur dev team who make nothing but excuses for why they aren't trying something new and innovative. "It's too hard" is weak.

It won't happen. I've seen all I need to see in the leaked screenshots. It looks like WOW. WOW is a piece of crap, and I don't play it.

If a new TES title had been announced that had co-op multiplayer, like say, Borderlands, that would have been one thing. I would love to have a friend or two join me in my adventures in Tamriel, but a watered down MMO is not what we need.

Hell, they can't even get their own lore right, from what has been revealed so far.

A lot of TES fans, ironically enough don't like multiplayer games. If you think about TES history you'll see why a lot of people are pretty upset by this move.

Yea I meant separate. Was trying to be humorous.

What makes you think Beth sold out TES? Did MS sell out when they made Halo Wars? Did Christopher Tolkien sell out when they made LOTR:O?

I don't think so. It's just another product for a different audience.

Exactly. It's one giant cop out.

IF another single player Elder Scrolls game comes out, I'll give it a serious look. I'll be reluctant to buy a collector's edition again though. And I am going to speak with my wallet right here and now and not purchase any Bethesda products while this is in development. That will most likely include the Skyrim DLC (which I am already mad about anyways due to the delayed PC release).

Apparently customer loyalty means [censored] all to this company.
