Humorous complaints from my 15 year old brother

Post » Sun May 13, 2012 4:49 pm

He loves Oblivion and has put countless hours into it and knows everything about it, I played Oblivion a lot too but I played it more "Wow this forest looks great, hey I wonder what's in that cave?" whereas he played "Ok I've gotta get the best armour and level all my skills to 100".

Anyway I'm finding Skyrim (after about 15hours gameplay) to be amazing and easily 100times greater than Oblivion whereas he is not impressed and when I asked him incredulously how he could not like it he's given me these reasons:

1. The graphics are [censored], Oblivion's were way better you could see all the details!
2. The fighting's so slow! it's the worst!
3. This dragon's killing me too many times, this is the worst! Oblivion was so much better!
4. This game's so much more complicated than Oblivion!
5. Playing this game is like playing a trivia game, I have to read so much and work out [censored]!

1 and 4 made me laugh because they are just so unbelievably stupid.

Are these as bad as I'm thinking, what are some crazy complaints you've heard?

You lost me at "15 year old"

edit: dammit, I wish these boards had a "18+" section where I could properly speak my mind and not worry about upsetting some young teen's delicate paradigms. Here's where I do the pirate "Aarggh!" and shake my fist at the sky.

Lol, actually when I watched him play and hearing his dumb ass comments I just kept saying "It's like watching a [censored] baby play"
He doesn't deserve to play this masterpiece :P

My 15 yr old bro stayed at my house from the 11th to the 13th. I had both my pc and ps3 set up in my game room and we both played all weekend, i even remembered to feed him once or twice.

If you know young teens with delicate paradigms in the 21st century, blame their parents. No one is going to stop you from speaking your mind other than your fear of teenage opinion, which is quite amusing coming from a teenager.

...be careful what you repeat, Idiotic 15 year olds are an important demographic for Bethesda, thus all the "streamlining".

Or you could speak your mind anyway. Plenty of 15 year olds aren't like the OP's brother, and upsetting their delicate paradigms builds character. Also, 15 year olds, such as myself, would absolutely go to that board anyway. Birthdate checks on the internet are utterly futile.

i've heard:

"how can you play this boring game?"
"the people who made this aren't very intelligent"
"There's a world out there, beyond the computer screen"
"You should be able to kill anyone, destroy anything."
"that's a cool color scheme (my altmer wearing a beige hoodie + black robes)

In my opinion the team who made this game spend 90% of their time at the land scaping the dungeons the towns the npcs and such....

and only 10% to the actual gameplay

In my opinion this is GOOD. Because if I want a game in which I want gameplay as in fighting and balancing...i will play diablo 2-3
this game is just for graphics and such

TES always takes an investment.

As I like to say, TES is a slow seduction, with every game. If ur idiot brother doesn't have the necessary patience, that's his loss lol.

Well, there's one thing I'll give the kid credit on in his first point: The game does love its desaturation filter a bit too much. I wish it didn't go gray all the time.

Most gamers under the age of 20 have been irreparrably poisoned by trends of the WoW Age :(

While I wouldn't go so far as to say the game is ugly, running on high and even ultra many, many textures are just horrible. Not to mention how many items are 2D, like Snowberry Bushes. And considering how much of the terrain is snowy stone or wood, I am surprised at how gawdawful some of those are, at first I thought I was having texture errors.

So while a lot of the game looks pretty decent, a lot of it doesn't. The transition between texture quality can be jarring and absurdly obvious, which could be a real turn off to some people.

I'm liking the world color scheme pretty well. It's supposed to be kind of sub-arctic, and I think it hits that about perfectly. In a wind beaten, snowy, cold land there just isn't a huge amount of color. Plus when you do see bright colors it's more striking. The auroras, a field or city when the sun comes out for a bit, when a mage throws sparkly death in your face, indoor environments (especially the more upscale ones).

Basically any complaints are crazy.

My only real complaint (ignoring petty complaints like magicka regen and destruction, which only affect style of play rather than enjoyment) is that for the PS3 the game becomes unplayable.

This is a pretty serious problem

Otherwise it's a stunningly crafted game which is absolutely incredible, and when it wasn't lagging like an absolute [censored] I enjoyed it immensely
