Audio Crackle

Post » Mon May 14, 2012 6:38 am

So far so good, but any time there is something loud going on, the audio crackles/pops very loudly. Anyone else experiencing this? I'm using an optical hook-up through my surround receiver if that makes any difference.

Your audio set-up isn't responsible. I had the same problem throughout the intro, like loud, crackly static. And along with the audio bug, the game froze twice. Not the most impressive introduction to Skyrim!.

The reason I say it's nothing to do with your audio set-up is because I don't have any fancy stuff - I just use the television speakers and I don't use a receiver or any optical cable or or even have the TV's fake dolby surround or any similar option enabled.

Actually, it was my set-up. I had the optical cable going from the TV and out to the receiver so I could watch TV with the speakers on without switching back and forth. I pulled the opti cable out of the TV and jacked straight into the PS3.. problem solved. Guess my TV's sound board couldn't handle the load.

@Danipenn, I've been playing for over an hour, and I haven't had any issues other than the sound... And that wasn't even the game's fault.

It's great that you found a solution but I don't see how it follows that the problem is from your side when the exact same issue has been reported by a number of people using different platforms, different set-ups and using different work-arounds to resolve it, if possible.

Right. That sounds nothing like what I was experiencing. I'm not sure what you mean by: "but I don't see how it follows that the problem is from your side" because the problem was my equipment. Not really sure what you want me to say?
"Sorry I fixed mine and not everyone else's," maybe?

I've had exactly the same audio crackle both through the TV and Surround System. Also I've just had to perform the first hardware reset....!
