Always sad news when we hear about the death of any solider even a 90 year old vet like Compton. It's a shame when you see someone like this die and the news hardly pays any attention. Even when Winters passed away there wasn't an abundance of coverage. Then when a celebrity who did drugs and possibly worse dies it's all the news will cover. Guys like this never get the thanks and praise they deserve but I guess they prefer it that way.

So true ! Hate it ! But Buck Compton is a real hero, he fought in one of the hardest times humans ever can imagine ! R.I.P from Germany... Sorry !

Sad news, but at the same time, i'm not sure as I agree about the lack of media attention. They deserve praise and respect, but no more so than any other veteran. They shouldn't get special attention just because a TV series made their names famous.

At least his story was told. There are thousands of stories like his that will never be told or remembered, the acts of uncommon valor and sacrifice of very young men in the face of a truly formidable foe.

I have the Band Of Brothers set, I watch it time to time, and no matter how many times I watch them, the most poignant moments are always the intro interviews, and that last one, Winters saying "no, but I fought in the companies of heroes".. that one gets to me every time.

I can't say anything more than what's already been said. A real American hero has passed. There probably won't be another like him. I'd rather watch TV and here about Compton's passing than about what some idiot celebrity has done.
