So Rage takes place in Oregon and then goes to California

Post » Mon May 14, 2012 6:00 am

After beating my first playthrough and winding back up in the Wasted Garage again I noticed a license plate that said Oregon.

Then searching for some of the names of locations in Oregon I found some similarities.

In Oregon there is a Gunbarrel Road and Dorado Court
There are also many places called Wellsprings in Oregon
Also Crescent City is in California and Marshal in Rage says that is what Capital Prime used to pre-impact.

There are probably other similarities but these are the ones that I found so far.

I'm looking outside now and don't see anything like rage. Unless the astroid turned everything to desert. I guess it'd be more like So Cal, maybe death valley area. I'm thinking it's based of a place called Alabama hills in CA. It's where they taped Iron man and transformers 2. It looks just like it. You might be right about the names though. Actually I'd like to know.

Apophis would have nearly wiped out everything changing even the most fertile of land to barren deserts, and its been 100 years so areas have begun to settle. There are a few billboards advertising a car with the city behind it looking green.

Pretty certain the Poles (that meaning North and South) have reversed themselves. The Authority Prison has a sign in it that labels it the Stone Mountain Correctional Facility, If this is the same Stone Mountain as that in Georgia then it takes place in Georgia. Crescent City is located in Northern California on the shoreline, in a location called the Eastern Territories. In my initial searches I haven't found another Stone Mountain out there that it could be referencing.

Anything on the road signs have been naming roads as I saw a sign in the game for New Haven and then saw another sign in the Dead City for New Haven Ave, so I think all the signs point to roads which would then fit the idea of Oregon as it has both a road called Dorado and a road called Gunbarrel.

Within the next 20 years there could always be a correctional facility called Stone Mountain. But anyways this is all speculation until id says anything.

Anything is possible, though I tend to think Texas makes the most sense. First, you have a preponderance of accents that hint at that. Second, you have what appear to be refinery looking buildings all over the place. Third, three guys in Wellsprings are named Dallas, Houston, and Austin.

But its hard to really say and a lot of things don't really make sense. Like how are all those tall buildings still standing in the Dead City? It looks like it was hit by a bad earthquake, but thats about it. And the shanty area under the overpass, that had to have been post-impact, right? Plus the story says the Authority went back into the city and did a bunch of stuff there, and the Authority didn't emerge until decades after the impact.

So I'm not sure to what degree the lore/background will ever add up anyway.

I'm actually changing my stance to Texas as well, particularly the Fort Worth/Dallas area. And Fort Worth/Dallas being the Dead City. I base this off the fact that I-35 East is on a lot of the signs. A town located to the South East of there is called Gun Barrel City, Texas. Still trying to figure out Crescent City though, especially if its in the east, as well as Stone Mountain.
Edit: Found this online, "The Crescent City" is a nickname for New Orleans. Maybe they changed the names for copyright reasons, similar the GTA's San Andreas or Los Santos. Odd though as they didn't change Gun Barrel, unless the town is glad to get the publicity. That just leaves Stone Mountain now.

Just throwing this out there they called the asteroid apophis just like the one that's going to come relatively close to our planet round 2036 so would make sense they would try an make more similarities to the real world.
