Things that should affect the game world in a significant way, at least by way of NPC dialogue:
Spoiler
- The dark brotherhood questline.
- Imperial or Stormcloak victory.
- Resolution of the Alduin crisis.
I mean, don't get me wrong. It was annoying to beat oblivion and then have everyone and their brother talk about nothing but you and Martin. However, it also gave you a sense of accomplishment. I realize that it was far easier to pull off with fewer voice actors; however a few scripted events with NPCs and variable dialogue on Jarls/Innkeepers/Generals would go a very long way. In Fallout 3 we had the radio to make us feel like we affected the game world. In Oblivion we had widespread NPC reaction. In Skyrim a guard and one or two primary NPCs might be aware of your accomplishments, but that's about it. I'd like to see it taken further. Perhaps this could be done by releasing a DLC that follows up on the conclusion of the Skyrim rebellion and the end of the main story.
Just a thought.
