NO VSYNC?!?!? WTF!?!?!

Post » Mon May 14, 2012 9:53 am

I swear to god, why do companies keep dropping the effing ball on widescreen monitor support. This is the umpteenth game thats come out recently that lacks a vertical sync feature. Everything about this game looks amazing, yet, to me it looks like complete garbage with the tearing rippling across my screen due to the lack of a V-sync feature. Patch one in or do something to fix it, I(and iam sure iam not the only widescreen monitor customer out there) am GD sick and tired of seeing this seeming lack of give-a-damn about vertical sync in new games. Very disappointed customer so far Bethesda.

Bethesda.

Bethesda didn't make this game...id Software did. And as far the v-sync goes just enable it in your graphics drivers. Yeah it svcks that v-sync is disappearing but we can still do it as pc gamers :D

Quick how-to on how to enable it in the graphics driver would be awesome. I'am not THAT good with computers.

Depends on whether you use ATI or nVidia. For the most part they are the same when it comes to accessing the control panel, but the setting probably vary somewhat. Usually the control panel can be found in the bottom right, in the system tray. Just right click the catalyst or nvidia control panel icon, run the panel, and look for an option to force v-sync.

nVidia - in the nVidia Control Panel - there is a section called "Manage 3D Settings". Once there, switch to the tab labeled "Program Settings". This allows you to change settings per game instead of a global setting for all games.

The instructions are right there on the tab (1. Select a program to customize, 2. Specify the settings). When you get to 2, Vertical Sync is the last option at the bottom -- enable it. After you're done, click the "Apply" button at the bottom.

I've done this and VSYNC still does not work and I get crazy screen tearing. I'm not sure what the solution is here unless it's just wait for a new driver or game update.

if you have and AMD/ATI GPU go into the CCC and force vsync on i did that and im running a smooth 60fps with no tears now. and im sure nvidia has something like i would think.

This was what I used to fix my tearing. I use the Steam client to play Rage so basically i just right-click Rage in the library list, click properties, then click the "launch options" button on that pop-up menu.

I type the following command into that box:
+r_swapInterval 1

Seemed to get rid of the tearing.
