Crash on Loading Screen, Lags and Texture Pop-In

Post » Mon May 14, 2012 8:53 am

i did everything everybody offered, and i still got slow streaming textures and lags and crashes on loading screen,

Core i7 930,
ATI 5770HD,
6GB DDR3 1666mhz.

did a clean install of the ATI fix, added the rageconfig text file with the tweaks, i created the folder in the Local Appdata. it improved a littile but still sometimes crashes on loading screen minor lags, textures are slow and pop in.

but thats ok, the thing that pisses me off, there is not even one offcial word, he knows the PC is a failure and still i keep seeing interview about how rage is a good game, some one needs to tell Carmack to come read this fourm!

he lost alot of money releaseing a broken game like that. not just now, in future games people will think twice.

Running the same system---I7 930, AMD 5700, 6 gigs, Win 7 -watercooled-with ATI fix---and the game runs fine-no lag no stutter no crashes-no issues except for some the texture pops reported elsewhere.
Issues may not be the game. I am using retail DVD, not steam downloaded.

This game wasn't a failure at all, quite the opposite actually. It was a little rocky start but most ppl have fixed there issues.

Who's this guy? The spokesperson for the world gaming community lol.

Unfortunately differing from this guy I'm a straight up gamer, not a fan boy (Which is why I'm not guna base the game on its sales, but instead by public reaction and personal experiences). And going by public outcry, the many news websites reporting the same thing, and the multitude of issues already being reported, prior to a 7th of October release here in the UK (On steam), its buggy as hell. I'm sorry, but have you seen the official posts in response to it, about configuring ini files, etc and messing about with configs, all because they didn't implement any in-game graphics options, cus they were too busy catering for the console users? lol. Ridiculous.

Loads of people are still facing issues, so your not alone dude. And within the next few days, watch the floodgates open with more users complaining.

Lets say in an ideal world, i wanted to play the game when i installed it, with graphical options INGAME, not fannying about on forums looking for hotfix bullcrap. I must be asking too much.

Sorry if i sound frustrated, especially after playing BF3 for a while now, just sick of seeing PC gamers getting the sloppy seconds all the time. Tempted to get a refund and get the console version. I love the game and wanna play it, and i wanna play it on my PC, but why should I have to go through so much crap to just play a bloody game for gods sake. I'm using the ATI drivers released specifically for Rage, and i have a ATI HD5970 for Gods sake, it runs everything no problem, even BF3 on full settings (Aside from the glitches lol). Again the PC gaming community is being screwed over and overlooked. I aint guna sugar coat it like this really fan boy, its outrageous and I'm frustrated.

I'm playing on a laptop with AMD 5830m, which is a gimped version of the desktop 5770 card.

After installation, I experienced CTD on launch until I installed the October 3 AMD hotfix. Prior to that I was not able to launch the game.

After that I was able to run the game normally. I haven't checked the fps in FRAPS, but it seemed to be excellent frame rate, much faster than I have ever experienced with a game that looks as good (high texture details and high quality lighting). Texture sreaming was noticeable in some areas but it still looked fantastic compared to other games I have played on this laptop. I am running this without overclocking the GPU. In the Ghost hideout some artifacting was visible on occasion.

Today I installed the Oct 4 driver and adjusted the launch settings and config file. I will check to see whether there is any additional improvement in texture streaming, appearance or frame rate.

I believe there will be another Oct 6 AMD driver released tomorrow, according to this tweet: http://twitter.com/#!/Thollenshead/status/121729879417958400
