Hi everyone. Noob here :)
and beware bad engrish lol

Anyone tried this "Oblivion Ramb Booster" with Skyrim yet ? , since it's using the CFF explorer that enables more RAM (4gb) for the exe file.

Any thoughts ? safe to try it ?

If Skyrim doesn't utilize more RAM than that... O.o

Given the market share that runs 64bit OS that's ... Insane.

Until some major texture overhauls are released, I doubt we will need this.

Also, this only works on 64-bit versions of windows, so most XP users are out of luck.

Why? I played for like 4 hours last night. Although I have 8GB of RAM, my system was only using 2.5GB of RAM while playing Skyrim with Ultra settings. And my 1GB Graphic card was only using 800Mb of RAM as well. I know this because I run two monitors. One for the game, and a second monitor that displays relevant system info so I can see CPU usage, RAM usage, Graphic usage, and temperatures. :)

The game doesn't seem to hog memory in the first place.

True, but when the unavoidable high resolution texture replacers and high poly mesh replacers with improved shaders/etc arrive, that RAM and VRAM usage will shoot up dramatically. The earlier that tools/optimizations are researched the better.

I usually just use the http://www.ntcore.com/4gb_patch.php on my x86 games. Allows any application including Skyrim to run using 4gb of RAM provided you have an x64 system. x86 users can still get applications to use 3gb of RAM with this, however. Follow these instructions (people with Windows x64 don't need to, once again, only people with 32-bit/x86)

Thanks to FordGT90Concept on the Tech Power Up forums who wrote these…

Windows 2000:
1. In Windows Explorer, navigate to the system partition. This is the partition that holds hardware specific Windows files such as Boot.ini and NTLDR.
2. If you cannot see the Boot.ini file, it could be because the folder options are set to hide protected operating system files. If this is the case, in the Explorer window, click Tools, Folder Options, and then click View. Clear the Hide protected operating system files (Recommended) check box. When prompted, click Yes.
3. After the Boot.ini file is visible in Explorer, right-click the file, click Open With, and then click Notepad to open the file.
4. Add the /3GB switch to the end of the line starting with “multi” under the [Operating Systems] section.
5. Save the changes and close Notepad.
6. Restart the computer for the change to take effect.

Windows XP:
1. Right-click My Computer and select Properties. The System Properties dialog box will appear.
2. Click the Advanced tab.
3. In the Startup and Recovery area, click Settings. The Startup and Recovery dialog box will appear.
4. In the System startup area, click Edit. This will open the Windows boot.ini file in Notepad.
5. In the [Operating Systems] section, add the following switches to the end of the startup line that includes the /fastdetect switch: /3GB
6. Save the changes and close Notepad.
7. Click OK two times to close the open dialog boxes, and then restart the computer for the change to take effect.

Windows Vista & 7:
1. Open command prompt with Administrator rights. To do this, go to Programs, Accessories, right-click on Command Prompt and select “Run as Administrator.”
2. Enter the following at the prompt and press enter: bcdedit /set IncreaseUserVA 3072
3. Close the prompt and restart the computer.
