Crash when loading sewers

I decided to install the sewers DLC and entered the Steam activation key and let it download the 350MB.

After it downloaded I lauch RAGE, load my save game which takes me near the sewer entrance outside of the Outriggers area. But when I press E to enter the sewers, the loading screen comes up but it just stays there forever. If I ALT+TAB I find a window from Windows saying that RAGE crashed.

I have tried it several times and the same thing happens each time.

I will see what happens at the other sewer entrances.

Does anyone know where there are other entrances in the starting area?

I ended up completing all the starting missions. I then went back to the sewer entrance and it worked correctly.

However I just tried to enter Wellspring and it crashed while loading that area... :brokencomputer:

I realoaded the game and it took me to a checkpoint in Wellspring so I am able to continue.

it really seems like theres a 50/50 chance of the game crashing when a loading screen pops up. it took me 5 crash attempts to go back into the british bandit base near the dam for a side quest, ive only been able to complete 1 sewer section so far, now ive got a crash getting into well spring.

Something has really scewed up when the game went gold as there shouldnt be this much trouble, and the other glaring issue is the extremely low res textures on clutter. im not talking about the actual canyon walls or the textures on buildings, im talking about the textures on the computers, the chairs, the boxes etc they stick out more than dogs balls

Hmm had it crash when I revisited Ghost Hideout.

I told Steam to revalidate, and now it is going to download the whole thing again! :brokencomputer:

So be careful when loading levels as it may corrupt the entire Rage install. I would keep a backup somewhere if you downloaded it. Otherwise you may find Steam redownloading all 21GB again.

Luckily I purchased retail so can just reinstall from the DVDs...

Same problem. I entered the Ark Sewers, cleared the sewers, got the pile of bones. Then later a mission popped up on the Jobs Board. Clear the Arks Sewer.

I have tried doing other quests, entering other areas and coming up.
Loading up an older saved game but EVERY time that I enter the "Clean the Ark Sewer" zone the game freezes up.

Guessing just that zone is bugged. Has anyone else done the Clean the Ark Sewer quest???

I got worse...

Heaps of random programs like Chrome, Steam, and ATI Control Panel started crashing for no reason.

I went to restart Steam and it said Steam was corrupt so it needed to reinstall. I restarted Steam again and it redownloaded the Steam files. But at about 99% Steam update, I got a BSOD in NTFS.sys (the hard drive driver). So I turned my computer on and off.

It seems to be behaving better now and I am waiting for the DVD to reinstall Rage and redownload the DLC.

I hope Rage has not screwed my hard drive as I do not want to do a format and reinstall of Windows.

Just a warning.... something in Rage or ATI's Rage driver is seriously stuffed. Rage may fry your hard drive!!!
