Have you been upset with all the texture rage, too?

Well, I am so I thought I'd ninja these from WoodenLung + &Divius over at Neogaf.
Now, I'm going to admit that I'm not wise when it comes to graphic quality--but these textures overall look great to me.

What are your thoughts? Could it be that some are having technical issues? Or do I just have low expectations?

My thoughts... something like '50 minutes to go before its released in UK'.

You can see even from the distance of the shots that they are grainy, they almost look like they've come out the wrong end of some kind of compression utility. If you look towards where the textures are closest to the camera you can see where the lowness in resolution takes a toll on the quality.

It's a nice looking game because of its models and shaders. Just "nice". It could look a lot better with good textures. A LOT better.

Only the 1. look great to me, the rest look... meh. Pretty bad or just normal.

I find those pretty good.

Some of them look really good. Some of them are absolute rubbish. Like the rock close to the player in this one: http://h3.abload.de/img/tesv2011-11-1021-48-0k5d23.jpg <-- that looks like something off the Wii, not a high end gaming rig. GG Bethesda.

The back of the shield looks horrendous. The rest of it is just OK. Not very special and with a distinctly washed out looking color pallete.

What you did here is post all shots from far off. The game looks good from a distance..it's up close when it looks horrible.

Look at that rock...that is HORRIBLE.
Also the back of the shield is terrible as well.

No, they do not come anywhere near to melting my face. But they do look very nice overall, so I'm personally not complaining. I didn't expect shooter-type game uberness or anything in the first place.

That's my impression from screens/vids too. Not all up close textures perhaps but plenty that get in your face and you'll notice.

These look that good because they are scaled down..making the detail look sharper. Can't notice blurry bad textures that way.



I don't understand why either...I really THOUGHT Bethesda would make great hi-res textures. As you said, some are "passable" but there are so many that look like a low texture.

Almost anything can look fairly awesome when resized by half.

Nope, not even close.

BUT, i have yet to see what Mods can do for it.

Oh well, I'm still happy with the way they look. It's not like a rock or the back of a shield is going to ruin the game for me. The interface, however...
