I crash after the the Bethesda logo when booting up the game. Even on low settings(?)

Win 32 Vista
Geforce 8800 GTX
Intel Core Duo 2 E670 2.66Ghz
8 GB ram

Nvidia 285.38 drivers, but updating them now

I confirm: I also had the problem that the game would crash on me as soon as I got to see the Skyrim logo; try reducing the quality of the sound output of your audio device, it helped me solve the issue...for now.
