The Thread of Food!

Post » Mon May 14, 2012 12:37 pm

Hello. I love food and i know there are others out there who love it too. I love making food, eating food, I even love watching people make food.

I am wondering what your favorite foods are.
Anything special or out of the ordinary?
What is the recipe?
Any personal tastes or anything you have wanted to try?

Any cool recipes?
Another good one: What is a food that seems to be localized only to your region / state / country / city?
How is it prepared?
and so on.

I want to have a huge list of things to try.

My favorite food is All The Food, and my least favorite is food not in my possession, mocking me with its cruel unavailability of being eaten by me. That said, I don't really travel/go out or have the cash to experiment with dishes, so I don't have any recipes or interesting food experiences to relate.

More specifically I like seafood, especially shellfish, and most especially of all, crab. If I lived on the beach I would probably spend all day sifting through sand for little crabs to eat. That would probably be what I want to try, is coastal seafood at its freshest, not the previously frozen stuff that's generally my only option.

You cannot briast fresh seafood. Hint for if you every go near the coast, most crabs are actually in more vegetated areas in small ponds. You take done string and a piece of chicken on a bone and drop the chicken in while the string us typed to it and wait for a crab to grab. You can then boil it and serve with melted butter.

I like trout. I wrap it up with tin foil and put butter and mayonnaise in the foil with the fish. And cook it

Spicy Hungarian goulash. It's a type of stew with paprika (dried Hungarian peppers) and diced beef and potatoes as well as a bunch of other vegetables, can't be beat in my book!
NOT American goulash though, completely different!

I'm in college and can't cook much, and what I do cook isn't very good. So my meals consist of easy things, microwave/oven stuff, a lot of pasta, etc. When done, I go over to the TV and watch the food channel, where guys are going around trying the best food challenges in the world while I eat things that taste like nothing compared to the home-cooked meal my amazing-cook mother can make.

Steaks are amazing, bacon is a treat, Italian food is great at mixing flavors like an explosion in your mouth, etc. I like almost any food a normal American does.

Its got grains, protein and vegetables it must be good for you. That's what I say whenever I get a whole medium pizza just for myself.

I've said this before, but my favourite thing to put between two pieces of bread is (Sockeye)salmon mixed with (Hellman's)mayo.
