Xbox hardware question (not the HDD bug)

Post » Mon May 14, 2012 10:21 am

First, I am a freaking idiot, and honestly didn't know until last week that you should install games to HDD, so I have been playing for years off the disc. Now I am concerned that if I play Skyrim for a long time off the disc my xbox will die. From what I have read, playing off the disc gives you better textures for now. Do you think it will be a problem?

Also, how do you clear your cache?

Thanks, and feel free to call me a new player. All of my friends have the PS3 so I know nothing.

Playing from the HDD does save wear and tear on the disc drive, but that's it. Your Xbox is not going to break just because you play a game from the disc.

I know I will certainly be playing from the disc until the whole texture issue fiasco is clarified/fixed.

to clear to cache -

heads up - this will delete some patches, so you will have to re-download patches

Also be aware you need internet connection when clearing the cache. I have read a few posts about people clearing the cache but not hooked up to Xbox Live and having troubles then since no updates were "reaplied".
