Major Graphical Lag Issue

Post » Mon May 14, 2012 2:09 pm

I am loving this game and when I started playing it I didn't have too many major issues. Now all of a sudden, 30 some odd hours or so into playing this game, it decides that it wants to take its time loading EVERYTHING. Even after I let it sit to load the graphics or whatever it needs to load, I take two f-ing steps and it starts to load again. I'm getting really frustrated at this because it's ruining my game experience with what I believe to be the game of the year in my book. I thought the game installs were suppose to take care of the loading of these games? I have an original 60 GB PS3 and I know it's almost 5 years old but I've taken care of it as good as anyone should, so I know it's not my system. And please don't respond to this saying "well maybe you should try to re-install the game" because trust me it doesn't need it. Re-installing the game almost never works and its a complete waste of time making the system work harder than it really needs to. It's a once in a blue moon occurrence that occasionally works. This post is more for the devs to see so hopefully we can get a patch soon. You guys have made a phenomenal game and I have not regretted one hour that I've put into it since I got it at midnight on November 11th. Please fix this, I know you guys can.

There's a "Lag thread" 9 pages deep here on the first page..(among many many other single posts threads about lag)
Might want to look in there.

I've seen those. I'm not here to reply to anyone else's thread, I'm here to make my own thread so as to be noticed by the devs as one of their more serious gamers and fans of the series.

I say flood the forums with as many threads about this as possible.

Even the ones that aren't for PS3 issues.
We must be heard!

To be honest, when a Dev comes in here looking to investigate Lag issues, he/she is more than likely going to look in the thread that's 10 pages long as to gain more detailed insight, than one post buried a few pages back.

From the rules that you agreed to:
It's always a good idea to do a quick search of the forums before posting a topic asking for help or bringing up an idea. Common questions have been asked and answered many times and the odds are great your question has been answered before. The same goes for ideas. While they're always welcome and often provide great discussion opportunities, they may have already been brought up before. Search to see if your idea has been mentioned recently. If it has, jump right into the thread and post your thoughts!

I'm not singling anyone out, but there people with problems that can easily be fixed, and they are buried pages back with no responses. There's 11 threads on Lag/Framerate alone in the first two pages of this sub-forum... It's a bit annoying when you are trying to help someone out with a problem and you have to wade through pages of threads that are all the same topic trying to find the thread you were just in. Believe me, the Devs know there are lag issues, and making thread after thread isn't going to solve anything.

Don't quote the agreement to me, I know how forums are run and I also know that I've been witness to a lot of devs not giving a crap about what their players have to say. Now I'm not saying that Bethesda is that kind of dev because they've been so good about it in the past, but I'm making sure that this time around I as an individual have my voice be heard and not be shoved to bottom of the pile like most of you seem to be comfortable with. If you're going to quote the agreement to someone, make sure its a noob and not someone who's been around the block a few times.

This is unacceptable from bethesda, or from any developers... i mean i bought this game at full price on ps3 and it is an outrage of a what a port this game is.... its 2011.. the ps3 has been out for 4 years now and they still dont know how to work with it, making claims that the ps3 version is on par with the xbox version.. and they still have the balls to slap full price on a crappy last minute port.

I don't think it's a last minute port. That's why I'm so confused. It actually looks great and, initially, runs great, too... but then I'm baffled as to how they could allow such an obvious, game-breaking problem slip by and ruin such an otherwise well-done product.

Again, I'm not trying to inflame or "school" anyone. What I'm saying, is if you want your point to be heard, you might have better luck posting it in the "PS3 Lag" thread that has been on the first page since two days before the official release. By making your own thread, you are pretty much guaranteeing that you post will be buried pages deep in a matter of hours. Again, I'm just trying to be helpful and help keep this subforum a bit more tidy so we don't have pages of identical threads, and everyone's voice is heard. It works out better for everyone.

To be honest, this problem seems like an inevitable one and the only grave threat to the playability of the PS3 version. Given a few days and a bit more progress into the game by more PS3 players, and these threads may not sink to the bottom, after all... they may just, as with Fallout 3's GOTY edition/post-DLC problems before it, clutter the entire subsection and obviously seem as the gravest problem facing the PS3 version... and Bethesda may just ignore it, again, but this is unacceptable... literally a game-breaking problem.
