Morrowind Song Remover by Kyosho

::::::Description::::::

There is a newly recorded version of a track from Morrowind in Skyrim. This mod removes it from rotation.

Everyone loves the music from Morrowind, including myself. However, if you're like me and spent an unmentionable amount of hours in Vvardenfell, you might have gotten sick of it. Or perhaps you just want to listen to the awesome new music and not something you've heard before. In either case, this mod is for you.

::::::Installation::::::

1. Extract to your Skyrim\Data directory.

2. Enjoy Skyrim's music.

http://www.mediafire.com/?m5vb1bzg6tn4mpf since they're getting hit hard.

I assume this works. If any of you could test it, I'd appreciate it.

I went through every file and that seems to be the only legacy track. I basically made a dummy file to override the track. I don't know much about the XWM format (though a bit more than I did a couple hours ago), so I hope just replacing it with a dummy file works. And doesn't cause some sort of issue (perhaps a crash?). I don't think it would, but who knows. The format is something of a mystery to us non-developer types. It doesn't crash the game on startup, in any case. Haven't run into any problems myself yet. But, I'm not sure how to know if the game actually tried to play that file yet or not.

Perhaps you modder types know how to get the game to cycle through its music tracks with the console or something? That would be a quick way to make sure it works.

Why would you want to get rid of it? The Skyrim main theme is a remixed Morrowind theme also. Why not get rid of that, too?

That's different. The main theme is like a major overhaul. This song in question is not reworked really. Just re-recorded. It sounds almost exactly the same. It pulls me out of the game. Instead of absorbing the atmosphere or whatever my brain goes "oh, there's that song I've heard several hundred times if not more."

I honestly have no idea how to make proper XWM files. They're Microsoft's XWMA format. Which from what I can tell is only used in game development. And there's one synth program that uses it called NexSyn. I think if you download some Direct X SDK or something, and know a bit about coding, you can probably convert some files.

Hopefully someone will figure it out by the time the OST is released. The music in the game's files is ridiculously over-compressed.
