Cheat code for ending the racing BS.

Post » Mon May 14, 2012 1:18 am

Is there a cheat code so I do not have to play these BS racing games? I want to get on with the game. Wish I knew that this game revolved around racing, what BS! Thank you. (PC arrow keys do not allow for fine movement.)

You only have to race like 2 times in the game, deal with it. The other races are just there for people who can handle racing with arrow keys.

Honestly though, the races are so easy I don't see why you complain. I always got 1st place, playing in nightmare mode, hoping they would get a bit difficult. If anything, I was very dissapointed at how easy they were. Only the rocket ralleys are challenging, and you never have to be in one.

So no, the game does not revolve around racing, you need race once or twice and you're done.

I don't know for sure but it sure seemed that there was no difference between easy/normal/nightmare as far as the racing was concerned.

So how do you get out of Wellspring and on to the real game? Thank you for responding.

I think you're right.

Well, Wellspring is your home for the first half of the game, so you'll be going back there for a while. Eventually you'll be told about "The Resistence" and your new home will be Subway Town.

I don't remember when exactly you leave Wellspring, I crammed to much of the game in one day... I was supposed to play it through winter break but ended up beating it in just two days :(

I assume you are stuck on the first time trial. Beat that, it's a fairly low requirement, then get on with the game. You will have to come back to beat starky for the cuprino and that is easier if you have some racing certs to buy upgrades but...

The but part is that you can only win racing certificates if you keep racing, so you have to race to get upgrades. But beating Starky is as easy as the other racers, he doesn't seem like a boss at all... just a guy who thinks he's the best.

I can not stand this racing stuff! I have been at this for over two days. There has to be a cheat code.

Not that I know of, because the racing isn't a level, it's part of the story, without the required races you can't get what you need to move on. Using "noclip" or something like that wouldn't get you anywhere.

C'mon, man, the races are easy, because enemy vehicles explode with mostly 2 rockets all the time, and you can ram them and they blow up or go spinning out of control.

Hm... I'll start a new game. If I get past the racing part right away I'll try uploading a save file, if possible ;)

Sorry I find them difficult, maybe it is because I do not play with button masher games. :) I will say I finally won the first game to move the story on but I find out that there is another. That truly svcks.

Maybe try uploading your saved game so others could help you with it?

3 Races are essential if memory serves; the first to get certs so you can get some guns, the second to get the Cuprino and the third for the Monarch. Yes, they are incredibly easy, but there's a knack to them. Playing them like a botton-bashing game will get you nowhere; you'll be swerving all over the track, constantly crashing and going in the wrong direction. A lighter touch is needed. Once you beat the first race (which is just a matter of keeping on the track, really - the target time is so stupidly high that you just need to keep on the track and you should coast it) you should practice a LOT on the Southern Highway race. It's a MUCH easier track, with lots of straight lines and only two turns to worry about, and will be very good for just getting you used to the racing. Don't bother worrying about winning it; just do it over and over until you feel reasonably comfortable with it. Scorcher Territory is also a good one for practicing, but that's a Rocket Race so you might get blown up a few times at first. It's a bit more twisty/turny though, but nowhere near as bad as Disty 8 which I avoid like the plague.

As soon as you've got your first set of guns, by the way, you don't actually need to race to get certs. Just talk to Sally in the bar and she'll offer you a bounty for killing bandits - but what she doesn't tell you is that as well as cash she'll give you 1 cert per bandit vehicle destroyed. So just go back to her after every trip in the Wasteland, talk to her again, and pick up your certs.

I wish there was a cheat to buy certs. I can not drive fast and stay on track. Never did.
I think I will go back to the STALKER games which I love and where I can walk or teleport.

If you do the job for Sally which involves killing bandits in the wasteland, you'll get paid for every kill AND YOU GET RACING CERTS ! So if the races are to difficult, just stock up on ammo for your vehicle and destroy as much enemy cars in the wasteland as possible. This is a lot easier than the races.
There are only 3-4 races that are a must, to get the cuprino for example. The rest can be ignored unless your going for achievements.

You have to race to get guns for your buggy, even Sally will tell you this. So you can't actually get certs from Sally till you get some guns witch you have to race for.
You will not have much luck trying to kill bandits without some guns..
Monster Bash will get you a sponcer+certs, but you still have to get the guns on your car first before you can do Mbash.

Right, but as i said, only 3-4 races are a must. The rest can be ignored and certs can be obtained by killing bandits.
On my last playthrough on nightmare i skipped ALL rallies for example as i found them to be a lot more difficult than the non combat- and rocket races.

Playing the mac edition i find the races quite difficult also.
Thanks for the info about sally and killing bandits as an alternative to racing.

I still think this is funny. I think the racing is way too easy, I really did get 1st place in every race, my first time around. Not by a lot, but I didn't loose a single race.

What they should've done is let you choose the difficulty of the races when you sign up for one. That way you guys could choose "Easy" and I could choose "Nightmare" (for the racing aspect).

This. ^^
I might have lost some, like the rallies, those were annoying, but it really wasnt that hard. I usually got first in all of them.

so is there a way to change steering on the PC from A D to the mouse itself? I just started the game, did first hideout of bandits, but I found I had to NOT touch the mouse in order to drive with W A S D because instinctually I want to steer using mouse for some reason.

liking the game.

edit:

I hate racing game. did I just win the cuprino? yep. did it take me 1000 tries? no, I think I raced 6 times to win it. and it was dumb luck. I had a near perfect race on race 2 but hit something by accident and tanked. I don't think I raced much better that last time, I think I just got lucky (and used monster bash well)

a) I hate when they stick cars in games and you have to have them to advance plot.
B) IF YOU DO....have a better control system then mashing W and A and D. I think I would like racing in this game if I could use the dang mouse to steer.

end rant.
