What a shame, and I was finally going to try an Elder Scrolls game. If they don't fix this game, I'm probably not going to buy another Bethesda anything, whether they're the developer or publisher, or whatever. Heck, I was already on the fence after New Vegas.

So true. Especially since every single one of their games has the same issues. I thought Skyrim was using a new engine, guess not.

Way to take an old veterans money...on veterans day even :(

16 Hours in. Save file is 6mb.

No problems at all. None.

The folks with problems are a tiny minority. But when they all shout, scream and whine at once it appears like a large number......

Do you have solid data that it's a tiny minority? Cite your source.

Im just wondering if the issues stem from the size of the save file or the ammount of time spent on the game per session. If its the ammount of time spent then i wont mind as much.

And on the flip, do you have solid data that they aren't? Cite your source.

I was one of the "lucky" people with FO3, and now I guess Skyrim, that didn't experience one glitch (other than some random freezes) that anyone was/is talking about. Now, logically thinking, I can't for one second blame this on "luck." I'm thinking it's more like Mister Ped said above, that it's more likely about how long your session is than anything else. I'm a busy person, and so far my longest "marathon" of Skyrim was for 4hrs on release night. Maybe some of you experiencing these horrible lag issues and such need to give your console a rest every few hours?

This is just conjecture but it appears as though it's some type of memory leak problem and an excessive amount of data is being written/attempting to be written. This is causing save files to become overly large as well as consuming all the RAM the PS3 has. If you only play for a couple hours at a time it's likely that you'll be flushing the RAM before the buffer fills so you won't experience this problem as much or as often. I've actually disabled all the Autosave options but I only have about an hour of game time in since doing that so it's too early to report whether that improved performance or not.

No, I don't. That's why I didn't come on and claim that either a large minority or a large majority are having problems. What is obvious is that there is some type of issue causing a serious framerate/stutter problem but it's clear by the evidence of some people having it and some people not that we do not yet know what is the culprit that's initiating this.
