What's the point of the disc?

Post » Mon May 14, 2012 12:42 pm

Insert disc, run setup, it asks for steam code, steam code goes in and....it downloads the files from steam?

Why do I even have a disc? Seriously? It'll take like eight hours to get the files at this rate, and I wanted to actually play a bit tonight.

It makes a nice, shiny drink coaster?

...some people want the disc version for the Collector's Edition, others want a paper manual/whatever it comes with, etc.
I thought there was a way to install w/out needing to actually download the whole game ... (edit, nvm, someone posted that solution already)

I am truly grateful for the efforts people like you put into helping others, but it is getting a bit much that people are having to jump through hoops to get their game working, installation issues at least should have been solved before this game was released, I expect bugs in Bethesda games, but Steam need to get their act together.

No companies like BETH need to stop using STEAM for one player games --- seeing that the Pirates have already cracked the Steam DRM and are now playing the game without the need to have Steam running on their systems and were doing so about 20 hours before the official launch time -- Paying for Steam is a waste of resources they could be using for better programming\beta testing etc. instead of introducing more problems to those that are buying their games !
