I really hate the hand-holding tendencies of video games these days, like we're all babies who can't figure out what to do ourselves. I was playing Batman: Arkham City not too long ago and there were a few times where I was making my way to an objective and Batman kept on thinking to himself "I need to go do this" or "I need to go here" I'm like "really?! YOU TOLD ME A DOZEN TIMES ALREADY" - of course, the other thing that annoyed me was the constant repeating banter of all the thugs in that game that got irritating after a while (wish we could disable it). Then, while playing Battlefield 3 earlier there was a scenario where I'm fighting my way to the objective and while I'm doing it my CO keeps repeating "we need to make our way to X!" over and over. In real military you wouldn't have your CO repeating your orders every 5 seconds (not that Battlefield 3's campaign is a realistic military simulator lol. Not even close). Then there's the classic Zelda warning that you get when you are low on health and it NEVER stops "beep beep, beep beep" playing Ocarina of Time back in the day (and every Zelda game for that matter) I REALLY wish I could turn off that feature...especially when I got to have a ton of hearts and it started doing it at 3 hearts.
So yeah, there's my rant on handholding in video games. If we need help, that's what the Internet is for and the Internet is practically a requirement for gaming these days, so yeah, thanks for helping alleviate the annoying handholdy tendencies of game developers

. I'm sure I could name a few more games that have irritated me like that in my list above....
