Massive Mod Request

Post » Mon May 14, 2012 6:05 pm

Requesting someone to make me a mod for either ps3 or PC. It will include many things from adding more than 25 new spells. Adding more textures adding some creatures a few weapons two new skill trees and modifying a few old ones. Any questions just ask.

Some details include ten more alteration magics from opening locks to Water walking, creating clones spell, bound armor, revamping one handed skills and making a perk tree. Magical whips. Another Daedric prince. Dragon riding raising baby dragons. Pet dragon.

You can't install mods on the console versions. Beyond that, I imagine you're more likely to attract volunteers if you post details.

Mods such as those will be released eventually, individually.
For example, midas magic added a mega ton of new spells into Oblivion, and most of them were so much better than vanilla spells.
Visuals mods will definitely be released though, you can count on that.
Weapons mods will always be made. Hopefully someone makes Bleach weapons, like in Oblivion.
Better for you to request for a mod like this from SkyrimNexus.

Basically what this is...

To quote Elaura:

"The four golden rules of mods/gaming/life:
1) You want it, you make it.
2) You don't like it, don't play it.
3) If you make it and you like it, don't listen to anyone else.
4) If you ask for criticism, expect to get it."

Plus, with no editor released yet, it'll be awhile...

Sorry didn't realize.

Also would at least like to work with someone to create it. It has roughly 120 changes to the game not including bug fixes. And it would be large enough to be an authorized Bethesda DLC.

This you can forget. Bethesda have never taken a community mod and sold it as a DLC. (And I can with 99.99% certainty say that they never will.)

I meant in size not in actual terms of them doing it with mine.

You need to provide more details than this...

Dragon riding for example, do you want a perk tree of taming dragons or do you want a spell that can bind dragon to your will?

This falls under the category of, " Hey I've got a super awesome idea for a game, I think its perfect and thus everyone else will to. I should be a game designer and pitch it to a game company", obviously this is exaggerated and the op is suggesting something on a much smaller scale but still there are some rules that must be followed when requesting a mod.

You need to provide specific details, you need to have examples of what the mod would look like in action, and last but most importantly you have to make sure your idea is doable. By this I mean you have to avoid suggesting your "dream mod". When I have made a request It is usually something that is based around things I know can be done using a script extender, the Construction Kit, or some other modding tool that people use. There are certain things that are just not possible or will never turn out the way you envisioned it.

So people on here will do it if I provide exact ideas and small content on a one by one basis.

No. That would help, a little bit. But the way this comes across is you asking people to make stuff for you because you're too lazy to attempt to learn how to do it yourself. If you actually took the time to learn how to mod, and got some of this stuff done on your own, or even if you just try to do it, people would be much more likely to want to help you along.

I think if you spend a little bit of time with the Creation Kit when it comes out, you'll realize how hard it would be to make some of the stuff you're requesting.

Ok I will do this and then ask for help if I need it later.

Read your OP and try to picture actually tackling it. For example, "adding more textures". That's all you said about that. What? Where to? What is there that hasn't got a texture? Do you want meshes that are used more than once to be copied and one version retextured, so that tables or whatever are more unique? Do you actually mean better textures, and if so, what is it you think would make them better? Is there a certain resolution you think they need to be, or a favorite art style you'd like to see the game redone in? With just "adding more textures", the obvious thing to do is to tell you to go to [insert major texture site here] and start downloading. Then you'll have more textures. They won't, y'know, do anything, since they'd be random images on your harddrive. But you will in fact have more textures.

Some of those other ideas are better. "Pet dragon" explains itself, and is actually a decent idea. But another thing...these should never all be one mod. People who want to install "pet dragon" might not want to install "magical whips". (Which also, what's a magical whip? And "another daedric prince"? And then what? Just like, a box pops up saying "there's 17 princes now, just so you know. Click OK to return to your game" or what?) So don't ask for one huge mod that has exactly the things you want and nothing else, all nonsensically combined. No mod is worth making for only one person, unless that one person is the modder. No one else wants the exact same combination as you.

In future threads, pick one specific idea to request. If it's easy and has appeal to people besides yourself, someone might take it up. But remember that modders do this because they want to see something made, not because Beth hired a task force to handle reqs in this forum. You've got to make a modder feel that what you want would be easy to do and cool to have. And better than the ideas they've already got.

Pet dragon? Quite likely. (If you do try to learn the CK, that's a good one for you to try.) Dragon mount? I just know someone is going to try that. Another daedric prince? Not so much, you're probably the only one that wants to see it and a proper questline is extremely time-consuming to make. Texture mods are already underway and you can start one yourself at any time.

Hey! I've had some NIF workd done on request. But maybe that's because I'm such a wonderfull person. :P

But yeah OP, with your thread in CD about applying for a job at Beth, making this yourself would go a long way with that.
