Safe to go back...to the cave? : V

I'm not usually one to back track a FREE ROAM game, but the first "area" of the game, theres a

dragon attack and you escape.

Once the

Spoiler

dragon

is gone, can we return and loot the fallen? Just a thought. Free loot, you know? :shrug:

I have yet to see anyone do this...I wouldn't have either, but now that I think about it...

Oh but if you mean going back through the cave, no. It collapses in multiple spots from the dragon attack.
You can fast-travel back to Helgen though.

About cave I dunno, but you can return to the town itself, but it's deserted.

Actually, for clarities sake, it's not a 'spoiler only sub-forum' at all.

To answer the OP, I believe we can return to Helgen post-tutorial dungeon but I'll be surprised if the guards killed by the Dragon are still there.
