Fast-traveling -- The New Way To Get Killed

Post » Mon May 14, 2012 6:57 pm

I have come across a troublesome glitch that I'd like to report.. I'm still level 1, currently at the quest where you find the first word wall for the Jarl? of White Run. The quest stated that it was near Riverwood, so, naturally, I fast traveled there. At first [before walking closer to the city] everything was fine, and I even talked to a guard and said hello. As soon as a moved a bit closer to the entrance of the village, however, I was immediately attacked by the same guard, another guard, and the anvil guy from the first quest. I could not yield, and no bounty was presented. I've yet to steal, kill a friendly, or commit any crimes. I fast traveled to White Run [after dieing and re-loading] to find that they did NOT do the same. I also ran from the fight and fast-traveled to White Run, and, again, the guards had no bounty against me. I can not yield during this bout. One time, however, after defeating Mr. Anvil, they allowed me to stay the night and jail, and the problem seem fixed [most likely because the jail scene reset the "I just fast traveled here" glitch. I refuse to use that save, however -- I want to keep Mr. Anvil alive!

I've read that a few others are experiencing this problem here [ http://www.google.com/url?sa=t&rct=j&q=&esrc=http://forums.bethsoft.com/topic/1260150-fast-traveling-the-new-way-to-get-killed/s&source=web&cd=2&ved=0CCEQFjAB&url=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.gamefaqs.com%2Fboards%2F615803-the-elder-scrolls-v-skyrim%2F60964373&ei=hdS9Ts3lDcectwfwt9XaBg&usg=AFQjCNH-MvQup-2a8gZl2SHrMO6nKWmBGw ] and hoped you could offer some insight? For now, I'll refrain from fast travelling and hope it works [will try it in the morning..really hope it gets fixed!].

Did you have your weapons drawn when you entered the town? In Skyrim the guards of ANY town will attack you if you approach with your weapons drawn, you should put them away before you go in.

No, no weapons were drawn. They attack me for absolutely no reason.
