Skyrim - 2011, Graphics - 2001

Post » Mon May 14, 2012 3:08 pm

Are the absolutely horrible graphics a glitch or part of the game...

This game looks terrible, popped in Oblivion to make sure I'm not crazy and oblivion textures look way sharper resolution is way higher,
what the heck is going on?

I just spend 70 on a game that look worse then a game that came out 5 years ago?

The Xbox is experiencing a glitch that affects the game's textures, making them literally look 10 years old.

Don't worry; it should be patched soon. ;)

Did you install it?

There's a texture bug in the 360 version that makes it look much worse when it's installed.

Did not install because I heard it bad things, playing from disc.

Just watched the official gameplay video on youtube and I honestly feel I was conned and lied to, the game dosent look even CLOSE to the one depicted in that trailer

It's because bethesda didn't actually built a new engine for this game, they just modified the old engine wich is arguably 1 of the worst engines this gen.

@bastardo666 no they didnt they used a whole new engine, the creation engine.

I'm getting the glitches whether i run it on the disc or the HDD and for me personally (regardless what other people say) for me the glitch is caused by opening the menu which then turns all the textures low res. I'm loving the game to death and thankfully haven't yet had any glitches with quests or stuff that have stopped from being able to do anything, except for one glitch that removed the ground from whiterun and i fell through constantly falling but a quick load reset that, but this texture patch is seriously [censored]ting me off!! I love you bethesda but this glitch is ruining all your hard work! So please fix this. I am playing skyrim on my massive HD TV next to my friend whose playing it on his pc and im sick of his version looking absolutely superbly better and its a joke!! I know and expected the pc version to look better of course, this is of course expected, but with my low res textures and his maxed out, it makes me cry.

No they didn't,the creation engine = the modified gamebryo engine, the bugs that skyrim currently has tells the entire story from a to b.

Really? I thought in one of the dev diaries/interviews they said the started a whole new engine, which is also why the construction kit is now called the creation kit, to match the new engine...? Or am i wrong
( I really don't know now..)

Creation engine is a heavily modified gamebryo engine (much of its code has been rewritten),when bethesda said it's a whole new engine they were right and wrong..because a truly new engine can only be called new if it's built from scratch from the ground up,creation engine has no doubt code/dna from gamebryo since the bugs that are present in skyrim are very similar to bugs of their previous games which utilized gamebryo.

I have not had ANY problems with graphics/textures. The game looks awesome and looks 100% better than oblivion did on the xbox.
I'm playing off the disc, and the loading times are fine for me. I think a lot of people are just fussy.

Bethesda games are glitchy, I'm guessing they put more time into the beauty and everything else than they do on bugs. But this time around they have a new system going on, where the game plays itself and finds bugs/crashes and they will fix. If it's simple coding or changing numbers in the game (e.g. Overpowered spells, etc), they can fix without a patch and/or needing to restart the game. But bugs and big things such as textures require patches, so don't worry people, they are aware of everything that is being said right now.

It's a new system they are doing, to find bugs, etc., so it doesn't end up being one of their awesome games except the fact where there is tones of bugs. Give this game like two weeks and the major problems will be fixed.

Unfortunatly the sticky posts gives the impression that the texture issues are solved if you play from disc instead of HDD, which isn't true...

Hmm, strange. I didn't install it, like you, and it is working fine for me. :S

Seems fine here... running from the DVD as I only have a 4gb slim xbox. I also have the PC version, which although looking better, does not show up the 360 version that much... it looks stunning on both to me, though I accept that the quality of the texture resolution is a bit low on some objects - both PC and Xbox.

It might not meet the standards of the very best of recent games, but it certainly looks better than Oblivion and most other titles.
