Nothing after launcher

Post » Mon May 14, 2012 3:15 pm

When I boot up the launcher via steam and hit play, it gives me the little wait cursor and then does nothing. Anyone else having this issue?
I can boot it up directly through the TESV.exe, just not through steam

Last bump. On the task manager it says it opens TESV.exe but then kills itself after about 5 seconds.

I am having this exact same problem.

EDIT

To clarify, I'm running Windows 9. Every time I start up the launcher, it tells me it's doing a first-time installation of DirectX, but it doesn't do any of the other first-time installation processes. I have Skyrim in a secondary hard drive, as there's no room in my primary drive.

EDIT 2

And apparently I'm from the future, when Windows 9 has already been released. I mean 7. I must be delirious...

Fixed! I installed DirectX 9 straight from the Microsoft website. That did the job.

Fixed! I installed DirectX 9 straight from the Microsoft website. That did the job.

I'm having odd graphical errors and can't start a game as well. I get the loading screen, then the first time it went to a black screen. I could hear music in the background, but nothing is showing on screen. I tried re-installing DirectX and even re-downloaded it from Microsoft. Every time DirctX tries to install it says the version I have is the same or better than it is and it won't re-install. I tried launching the game again, got past the loading screen, and then it went to a white screen. I could hear music, but nothing was showing on screen. This time I opened the task manager and it said Skyrim had stopped responding.

Please help! Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated as I'm dying to play it after getting home an hour ago from the midnight release here.
