The problem with many gamers nowadays is the necessity to power level. This is a reflection of our “microwave society,” where one is determined for the fastest results/accomplishment/satisfaction possible.
I have been guilty of power leveling before. Heck I tried it in Oblivion. Although I created a maxed out rogue, I was not satisfied with the overall experience. It was bored after a while. I’m now enjoying being able to take my time with this new game and know that the encounters I experience will take some time and thinking. This in turn gives me a more complete feeling than just dominating. Sure I'd like to go in sometimes and wipe out the crowd, but not all the time. I want this game to be fun.
In reading all these posts you can see that there are choices on how to play. There isn’t necessarily a right or wrong way to do this, but there are consequences for choosing a certain path. You can power level if you want to. You can choose to make an orc restoration mage on max difficulty if you want to. Funny thing is how we see so many conflicting posts. Mages svck/mages own/magic owns melee/melee owns magic. Why is this exactly?
Bethesda made a game with some basic construct rules. These are not hard to go by, neither are they game breaking. For cryin out loud people learn some adversity! Bethesda didn’t make this game to please only you, and I believe they did a damn good job at making a large content game as universal as possible. If you’re having a difficult time playing a mage, think outside the box. Use the tools available to improve your character.
If you think the game is broken than change your rules. If you’ve created your character on max difficulty and own everything, than you have successfully worked within the rules of the construct to become dominant. If you’re suffering from low damage output and high damage reception, try something else or try re-rolling. Don’t complain on how you spent so much time on building a char to just feel weak. If you are absolutely convinced that this game is too hard/easy, than you should go play something else. Or jump to PC and learn to mod or wait for mods that work for you. We all know that PC users know more than god himself on how to make RPG's "the right way."
Bethesda- short of the technical glitches/bugs that you are working on, I sincerely hope that you don’t listen to these whiners and start nerfing this game, for then you’ve succumbed to weakness. The only thing your guilty of right now is building such a huge fan base, that everybody’s got their own idea of how TES should be made, which is several million too many.
Whiners- you are seriously angry at a developer making you to play their game which you bought? It’s a game and there are rules. You don’t go into a basketball game and say “I don’t like how I can’t carry the ball because its too hard to dribble.”
