PC screens ATIAMD 5970 and some info

Post » Mon May 14, 2012 12:22 pm

Ok i finally got the game and the 1st thing i noticed from the screens i saw online was the brightness killing the graphics, so the 1st thing i did was to lower the brightness all the way down , this helps a LOT and i can still see everything , indeed i wish i could lower the brightness even more. An ingame contrast slider would help a lot too. BTW the game has only 3 settings for textures low/mid/high , mabe Bethesda will add Ultra textures on a patch (mabe they have an agreement with some company to not to release them till certain time).

Another thing is , the game is not a port like for example Dead Island , nope not at all , the game looks pretty solid , not like a direct port. Yes the HUD and menus are a bit messy to navigate but i had no issues clicking on them, and i can click everything even move sliders with just the mouse and rotate stuff on screen.
Also the textures look pretty solid but some textures are a low res like for example the shields , and some random objects (i had to get really close to see that) this doesn't make the game ugly at all , indeed the game looks beautiful (i don't like the trees but that might be just me) :)
There are funny glitches like npc jumping from one place to another (instead of walking) but nothing gamebreaking for now. I am a Morrowind lover and i am overwhelmed and in awe for the ammount of stuff we can do, indeed i am lost lol! so much stuff! awesome really guys!

So people with ATI/AMD worry not the game runs and looks really fine, and i am sure will run fine the same for everyone once we figure out what is making those weird bugs :)

EDIT more pics with brightnes adjusted:

Nice!!! My worries are fading! Only another couple of hours for me :)

The shadows DO look much better in your game. Thank you, Sir!

Soooome shadows do look a bit messy if you push your char all the way in to them in 1st person, but you must be actively looking for them. Also the game looks a lot better than the screens , those screens ignored my brightness settings lol

Wow Drake, you're back! I'm an old modding member of our War of Revelations project, I'm sure you'll remember Nicoroshi as well!

Good to hear from you, man. No idea if you remember me, but thanks for the information.

I do also remember that most Bethesda games actually look better when they are actually being played. I always remember thinking that Fallout 3 and New Vegas looked terrible in screens, but when actually played they seemed fine. The shadows seem generally much nicer than the Xbox ones though :)

Love ur avatarz

I'm running a 5970 too.. however i don't have any HDR! Do you have HDR in your game Drake? I've played this on xbox and on another PC with a firepro card, and both have HDR enabled. You can tell if its enabled if you look at the sky then somewhere darker, watching the game adjust the brightness.

Hmmm yes seems like there is no HDR or is veeery subtle, but there are also waay too many clouds lol

BTW more pics now with better brightness :D
