Trying to do this mission which is given by Farkas at the Companions HQ. You have to go to Valtheim Keep and kill the Bandit Chief. However I already cleared this area when walking past on another mission, when I return there the mission pointer is on the bandits dead body and there is nothng I can do. The quest description just says kill the Bandit Chief and if I return to the companions I cannot get any more jobs as they say I need to complete Farkas job first. Does this mean I cannot progress in the companions? Any ideas or help to get over this?

i have the same problem, tried raise zombie spell on the chief and then killed him, but that didnt work.... would love to continue this quest line....

well i went on and did some other miscellaneous quests, and eventually the trouble in skyrim quest was under completed quests, went back to the companions guild and got a new trouble in skyrim quest up in winterhold

I'm having a similar issue. I have to kill the leader hagraven of the Glenmoril Coven, but every time I attempt to enter the cave, my game crashes to desktop.

I hope there will be a patch for this soon. I will try and find a work around for the quest myself also and keep ya'll updated.

This is slightly OT but as we're discussing the Companions quests. I've finished the main story quests for the Companions and I'm now working througth the radiant quest ones but they seem to be infinite in number. They're the same basic 4 or 5 templates (someones being held hostage, animal in someones house, wipe out enemy lair etc etc) over and over and over and over and over again. Seriously I've done a good half dozen of each sort and they never end, it's like freaking ground hog day. Is this a bug or an intential design of radiant story?
