zero crashes .....but lag is now starting

Post » Mon May 14, 2012 6:50 am

I have not had a crash yet with Skyrim....but I was lagging for about 5 minutes during a mission then it went away....... it was super smooth for the first 20 hours not a problem at all.....now its a bit more bumpy.... would deleting older saves help this problem? and why are the saves getting so much bigger? my last save was 6340 kb...... after 40 hours my save file is going to be 12 gb? thats crazy? could this be causing the lag the save file size?

if the lag stays the way it is than its fine.... what are you guys experiencing?

Is this a fixable problem?

I have also noticed that once my save files got to 5000 kb the game started to lag insane. I can't even fight Dragon because it is unplayable...lags so much. I have tried to delete older save files, but even if I creat a new save file the size will be 6000 kb.

I really don't think the save file has anything to do with it. I am over 35 hours into the game and my save is just under 7 megs. I've never had any lag to speak of whatsoever.

did the deleting other save files help? it seemed to of help me.....been playing for another hour and no lag issues right now.....minor hiccups though...

so do you think the growing save files is the cause to this problem can this be fixed?

Mine got so bad that I couldn't even move for like 15 minutes. I was doing a quest where I had to help the empire regain some fort and I had to stand still so that the game wouldn't go crazy.

that sounds really bad how big is your save file? I am going to play another hour and really look into this issue.... I really hope this will be resolved via patch

Well deleting the save files and turning off my PS3 for 5 minutes every 2 hours seems to help.

The save file says 8817 KB. I cant even run around Dawnstar, and in Whiterun, I cant wait because it causes Frame rate drops and I cant move when I first enter the city or the same thing happens (which means I stand still for like 2 minutes when I enter Whiterun)

Well I only keep three save files, one for me, one for my wife, and one at the very beginning so we can make new profiles if we want. But I always keep only one save file per character. I find it helps with memory and makes the game a bit harder and fun.

I don't think the number of save files makes any difference .... I rotate 20 save files not counting the 3 autosave files and I do not have any lag yet. 30+ hours in.
