Hey everybody,

I was wondering whether there would be any interest in a fishing mod. I am hoping to do a few things I have been planning since Skyrim was announced but one thing I have decided recently should be incorporated is fishing with a pole as opposed to your hands. The main reason is because I am playing as a Khajit who is not the biggest fan of water but I want to eat some fish. I am sure you see the dilemma.

I think that the easiest way of implementing it would be to have a bench/chair/log on which to sit that when activated acts like mining or woodcutting, but you have to push a button or something to pull the fish in when the bobber is pulled down. Its simple but better than nothing in my opinion. I am not sure how difficult it will be to implement, I am thinking it will require a new set of animations, although even those might be able to be salvaged from pre-existing ones. Such as sitting in chairs and holding a two handed sword or something.

Anyone else think this is worth pursuing and if so any input? Ideas on mechanics or anything?

I think it could be a cool idea.
There should be harder fish to catch than others.
The fish should be able to be sold and cooked/used in recipes etc.
Maybe make certain fish spawn in certain areas of the map, and maybe put in a few rare fish here and there.
It'd also be cool if there was some kind of journal or statistic that shows which fish you've caught how many times, etc. (Maybe include some more different statistics in the journal too)

Also I have no idea how powerful modding can be so idk how difficult these would be to implement or if any of these are impossible.

Yes. I am a passionate fisher in RL and I would love to see something like this in skyrim... It's amazing to me that woodcutting and mining is in Skyrim, but no fishing?
