Alright to sum it all up, I live in a small town in Southern California; and the only real inernet service provider in town is verizon.... and lets just say I can't put up with their incompatence anymore. I I'm thinking of going with a satellite connection, but I need to know which one will work best, I want one with the most speed as possible, for my online gaming.

online gaming... satellite... not gonna work out well. Too much latency. satellite internet's fine for web browsing, but not for online gaming.

Get a couple of miles of fiber and run it directly to my house and I'll hook you up.

oh im sure that GS wanted you to think that either way.

satellite kind of svcks, if the dish gets touched slightly; wind, hail, etc. Or if the weather is execptionally bad, or even solar activitiy can cause you to loose connection.

imagin satellite as if it were a rediculously long range Wifi set up, with thousands of miles of space for which the technology of man and the wrath of nature to get between you and your gaming.

Edit: also. EXPENSIVE

My brother-in-law uses satellite to game and it does not work. I played a match of Halo at his house and I was lagging and skipping the entire time.

Not to mention satellite is crazy $$$$. My wife and I are in the same boat with our high-speed and we've got one service provider. It svcks.

Stay away from satellite interwebz! The biggest glaring problem that I have come across when dealing with satellite is that you will have a download "cap", usually 200MB per 24-hour period. This means that once you have achieved your bandwidth usage for the day, your speed will be reduced to something close to dial-up, maybe a little more. I have had some dealings with customers in the past who were subscribers of a nationally known satellite internet provider, (which I will not name) and as a rule each and every one of them had that complaint. If you were simply checking e-mail and the occaisional quick web-surfing session, it will do you fine. Gaming or watching Netflix and the like will see you hitting your daily "cap" in no time. Also, to get more bandwidth you will see some rather steep prices to go along with it. And, as listed above, latency is going to be an issue when attempting any kind of online gaming. Just my two-cents worth.

Why not just stick with Verizon?
