The Stormcloaks are seemingly the good guys of Skyrim; they're rebels as well.

Simply put, Nord Separatists.

Whether they're good or bad is based on perspective.

Their Evil.
They are nothing more than rebel scum that decided for their own selfish reasons to start a civil war.
They will die.

First off, they aren't the good or bad guys. That's subjective (meaning a point of view). They're both the "true Sons of Skyrim" (Lol, Sons of Liberty) and the rebels. They're led by a collective of Jarls who want to secede, and recognize a leader whose...name I don't actually know. Might be that his surname is Stormcloak. I'm pretty sure they are mostly Nords, and they really hate Imperials. All Imperials. But especially Legion (scum). There's a city that supports the Stormcloaks, but I don't know what that city is, as I am too lazy to look it up on the wiki. Someone else can fill in the gaps. : P

There's no good or bad guys.

The Empire
are under control by the Aldmeri Dominion or in other words, Thalmor, the Empire are seemingly the "Bad guys" but they are just getting forced by the Thalmor do to things a normal Empire wouldn't do.

Stormcloaks are the rebels fighting to take control over Skyrim as they don't feel right what the Empire is doing(Thalmor made Mede ban the worship of Talos, the god of men.)

Thalmor are Elves set up in Valenwood who wish to destroy men and return to Godhood and like I said before, they are using the Empire as a puppet(You can't join these guys btw, at least I don't think you can)

Wait a minute. I think too many assumptions are being made about the Stormcloaks. Who started them? Why did he do so?

We DO know that the Thalmor have subjugated the Empire and forced them to ban the worship of Talos. This is part of their master plan to do away with man altogether, Talos being a deified man. One could say that to worship Talos, perhaps, is to worship humanity. The rules of Tamriel being what they are, if people cease to worship humanity, humanity will lose its grip on reality, perhaps eventually ceasing to exist altogether. This, the elves hope, will cause them to be gods once again...or something like this. Perhaps a lore junkie can help us out here.

But what we DON'T know is exactly what the Stormcloaks are about. It is reasonable to assume that they're rebelling against the Empire because they are trying to resist the elves. But let's all bear in mind that this is an assumption. We don't know for sure what motivates the Stormcloaks. Perhaps different people are motivated by different things. But the fact is, no one really knows exactly why the Stormcloaks are doing whatever it is they're doing.

So for all of those who are saying that the Stormcloaks are selfish and evil or whatever, I suggest you withhold your judgment until you have all of the facts.

I can promise only one thing about my own character. If the gameplay of vampires are like they were in Oblivion, then I'm definitely becoming a werewolf as quickly as possible and I will make it my mission to destroy the vampires. All of them. That's MY war...if vampires work the same way, which by several accounts they do.

And if that's the case, then I'll join the companions and be an honorable Nord, and that's probably going to involve joining the Stormcloaks. Who knows, perhaps they will sweep me up into their cause. I can tell you that if what they're about is truly all motivated by resisting the elves and the Aldmeri Dominion, then we should ALL be on this bandwagon, and shame on you if you're not. But whatever, maybe it's more complex than that, so let's make allowances for people to make up their own minds.

Hopefully, all of us can agree that the Thalmor must be brought down. We might still decide that the best way to do that is through the Empire or through the Stormcloaks, so be it. But surely we can all agree that the Thalmor must perish, the sooner the better. We will cleanse them from the world.

The empire's days are numbered. Time for a new order to arise and to move the capital city to Skyrim.
