The first of which I noticed is the lack of fluidity when chaining shots with the bow. When releasing the left-click to fire a shot and re-clicking to load the next arrow, maybe 30% of the time the game will not detect a second click. Perhaps I am clicking too quickly, but it is certainly not an issue I ever encountered in Oblivion. I am aware they are different engines and may not have a workaround, I am simply pointing this out. It can be a little frustrating at most, so perhaps it is not the largest issue.
Just now however I noticed a second issue with archery, particularly the limited range. I just spend perhaps 20 minutes shooting a couple of wolves very far away (reloading the save over and over), and thought it was odd that I could not hit them once even when it seemed to be hitting the ground behind them on an arc indicating it would have passed directly through them.
To test this I started firing on some mammoths that were at a similar distance away, obviously much larger targets. I fired perhaps a hundreds arrows in total at these mammoths, I did not receive a single critical notice or any aggro. So to see if I was dealing any damage I got closer, and when firing on them from that distance sure enough their healths were at maximum, no evidence of any damage at all.
Note that the wolves were reacting to the arrow impacts on the ground, going over to investigate them, but were not being affected by the damage themselves.
Are these bugs previously known? If so, is there a hotfix coming for these issues? I find perhaps the most satisfying part of taking up archery are the successful shots at enormous range. I am disappointed that I cannot indeed snipe things from far away as an archer.
