PS3 Textures are Blurred and washed out - ITEMS + WORLD

Post » Mon May 14, 2012 3:57 pm

Guys is it me honestly or is it a problem in the game? I got skyrim today on ps3 and I have been watching good quality videos of skyrim with good results even ones on cam footage. I have a 160GB slim model and it installed a 4.3 gb data but graphics are even poorer than fallout 3 on ps3 even oblivion.. GOD I was so disappointed that I left the game there and was thinking to trade it with batman..Please tell me shall I trade this awesome game or wait for the patch or bare with these graphics ... :/

Also it has such a garbage flickering and really poor textures everywhere,,, :brokencomputer:

Can't agree. I bought for both Xbox 360 and PS3, and apart from a little blooming and some flickering/pixellated shadows, I have found the textures and general graphics on PS3 to be better, hence why I am doing my first playthrough on that platform first.

I had the same problem. It looked absolutely hideous with really blurry 64 bit textures that looked like they were from my ps2. It seems some users are not experiencing the issue and are being highly skeptical that the issue exists at all. PLEASE take screenshots and post them here.

apart from occasionally coming across a terrible low-res texture (especially when traversing mountain regions) i think the graphical presentation on ps3 is overall very good. i watched the eurogamer comparison and i have to admit that ps3 is the inferior port, but its still not all that far way from xbox and pc. if they sort out all the glitches and stuttering, it will be fine.

I agree, the game looks worse than Fallout 3 in most places. It's not just you.

Just a typical Bethesda port, washed out look, lower Rez textures huge framerate drops and claiming it's on par with pc version lol

Ps3 version is using FXAA which is a low cost perfomance anti aliasing technique used by Nvidia that apllies a inteligent blur to every single element on the scene eliminating most of the jaggies! The only side effect is the fuzzy textures and lighting sources that produces! So this is a design choice by Bethesda because RSX (PS3 GPU) cant handle a MSAA which is the standard anti aliasing technique that produces more perfomances hits (although this is the method used by the 360 version thanks to the 10 mb EDRAM on the GPU that makes this aproach a walk in a park to the 360), so they never go release a patch that changes these parameters. The only way this could have been avoided was if the game was developed with the Cell in mind, implementing the MLAA (Morphological Anti Aliasing) that more and more developers are starting to use on PS3 games (like Deus EX). But that requires work so....
If at least they give us the option to turn the FXAA off. I simply dont mind to play the game with jaggies! I just want to see the textures, hdr lighting and the 720p framebuffer on its full shinny potential, that's all!

Apparently yes.... I've been experiencing the same thing whats funny is though I notice the resolution on the loading screens of objects/characters to be better just as it finishes, so I'm not quite sure if its running like that or if its a glitch but I also notice some objects like shields eg. lose detail especially in cities like Windhelm the object just become washed out blurred textures just like most of the game, this is the first time I ever post on a forum but this is very disappointing to PS3 owners of Skyrim I beg of you don't look at these comparisons could be fake though........

This is really unacceptable look at the screenshots of the outer walls of Whiterun the brick textures on the corners are bigger then Xbox360 & PC....
and don't get me started on the polygons on female faces [Lydia] it's like HD-DVD has more storage the BD I remember when Bethesda said "The Xbox & PS3 were very comparable to the PC version".
sigh* apart from all that the game is really fun and awesome

ITs the indeed the FXAA technique! If at least they let us disable that by option! we would get a little better framerates and at least the graphics would be more polished and not fuzzy!
If Bethesda allowed with that option I would be extremely please and by this point i think everyone too!
