don't get mad....
Do this.....
Check if your hdd have enough space....if not make saves....and delete the games that your not playing right now...(to have 50 games installed is not a wise solution)....for this game especially....
turn your ethernet off...
turn autosaves off...
play every 2-3 again restarting your PS3 to clear the cache files from memory....(defragmenting is not a problem on PS3 consoles...)
don't have above 2 save files.....(i mean do not save every a couple of minutes on a new slot)
DON'T create a second character !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
every time to put off your console make backup of your saves.......(very important..........)
We all waiting for future patch very soon.........
Yeah, bring on the patch - which shouldn't have been needed in the first place - asap, Bethesda!!!
Following advice on other sites I disconnected my ps3 from the net, deleted all autosaves and all but two manual saves, switched off autosaving, and adjusted various ps3 settings (e.g. display). Then I played for 3 hours solid with no stuttering or freezing. Framerate's still no great - around 20-25fps mostly, maybe 25-30 at times. But then maybe that's all we can expect from console versions of such a massive game.
For me the game itself is easily a 90+% rating, like most of the critics' reviews. But the hard- and software issues have taken away much the enjoyment of the first 20 hours or so before the bugs took firm hold. I wish I'd got the xbox version, despite its' texturing issues - rather that than a game that eventually became unplayable for more than 40 mins till I changed the aforementioned settings. It's ok now, though, and looks fantastic (on my Samsung LED tv ), though I had to fiddle with the tv's shading settings after the changes.
I have (vague) hopes that the apparently upcoming patch make improve the frame rate more and preclude further major lag and freezing issues. Which will mean that I can happily play this great game for my planned 100-200 hours without more major frustrations!
