It sounds pretty cool; so many options for future characters!

Another drawback I can think of is banishment if your identity as a werewolf is revealed, though hopefully it's like the Curse of Hircine mods where it's just fifteen days of banishment or something rather than permanent exile with no possibility of having normal interactions with NPC's again until you get cured, like in Morrowind's Bloodmoon expansion.

^ Also, this is entirely correct. It is not possible to loot corpses in werewolf form.

I hope it IS complete social outcastdom, Lycanthropey still doesn't seem to have any drawbacks in skyrim, sure you have to eat peoplet o stay in the form, but other than no well rested status, no harm will ever befall you from the curse. Its not even confirmed if random transformations are in other than the frist time.

1. Kill enemy as wolf
2. Return to human form
3. Loot corpse
4. ???
5. Profit.

You're always in third person? :P

But seriously; I think the negative's to being a werewolf would be..

  • Everyone will attack you, or run on sight.
  • You may be vulnerable to silver weapons.
  • You cannot use magic(big negative for me).
  • You cannot wear equipment.
  • You have no control over your transformation(unless that ring is in the game).
  • You're officially Hircine's [censored].

Um. I would NEVER- EVER become a werewolf if even 50% of these were true. What a horrible list. Not balanced at all.

I never said it wouldn't be complete social outcastdom, at least during the banishment period. I was just thinking of a complaint people had with werewolves in Bloodmoon where if just one person witnesses your transformation, the entire population of Morrowind instantly knows even if you killed the witness immediately. Truthfully speaking, permanent banishment actually wouldn't be such a big deal in Skyrim due to the popular new witness system they have (which was actually present in the Curse of Hircine mods as well), which marks witnesses that you need to "silence" before they can get any word out. Regardless, Lycanthropy looks pretty awesome from what I've seen, but it would be nice to know if there are forced transformations when the moons are full, and if there are other random forced transformations that may occur such as when the moons are gibbous. I would think at the very least that there would be a forced transformation when the moons are full, though.

What's wrong with the items on this list? It all seems pretty reasonable to me. You don't need equipment or magic as a werewolf, nor do you really need to talk to NPC's as a werewolf. I imagine there are some forced transformations in the game, and weakness to silver weapons would make you think twice before engaging in combat with certain enemies, such as guards for example, assuming they still use silver weapons like they did in Oblivion.

So can anyone give a straight confirmation as to whether or not it is locked 3rd person while transformed?

Yes, it's third person. And we get a werewolf loading screen unlocked after we do the quest in the Companions.

More drawbacks noticed:

Spoiler
But one thing is for certain : Since being affected with lycanthropy, I can swear that my character is taking alot longer to level up. It's usually just 10 skills of any sort that count towards a level up, but now while infected, its taking more than just 10 skill-ups to get 1 level up.

Also, when I wasn't infected, then the skills other than the ones affiliated with the stones of power that you select ( the circle of stones is close to riverwood ) barely move the level slider forward. But they used to move the level slider forward as normal when I wasn't infected.

Seems like it's related to the Well-Rested bonus that beast form dosen't allow you to get when you sleep in a bed. Now that is a MAJOR drawback to being a werewolf IMHO.
