Rambo Horse Mechanics- do they need changing?

I've spent pretty much all my time moving on horseback since I bought a horse (I don't steal :3) and after clocking 19-20 hours so far in the game, I've started to have issues with horse mechanics.

Now of course, they are really just there for transportation. But it's ever so irratating when you're travelling along a path on your horse and a bunch of wolves show up and start devouring the horses legs whilst you dismount painfully slowly.

It's irritating when you dismount your horse whilst overlooking a bandit camp to get some arrows down range, and the horse goes rambo and gallops into the camp to attack the bandits: getting killed in the process.

It's irritating when I find out I've by-passed several random quests that you would receive on foot travelling from one town to another, because you can't communicate on horseback.

It's irritating when you've just been in a fight, try to find your horse, only to find it went rambo again and chasing a wolf off a cliff.

What I'm saying is that I can live with it, but it now feels to me like the horse was just thrown in there at the last minute.
Do you think that horse mechanics should be changed? Or are they fine? Do you like Rambo Horses that charge into the enemy stronghold without your say so?

I would prefer:

- the ability to talk on horseback
-a quick-dismount option in combat
-for the horse to be defensive rather than aggressive and not attack enemies unless attacked
-the ability to call your horse to you

Whilst I don't find horse combat a neccesity, it would still be a welcome improvement. But there will be mods for that.

Thoughts?
