The dragon WONT attack

Post » Mon May 14, 2012 2:30 pm

I encountered a dragon, after getting these books from some dumb mage i killed for the college. Fellowergoes keep maybe. Anyways there is a dragon that circles, a giant, and another perched dragon near by. i killed giant and died fighting perched dragon, How ever, after climbing peaks running around and attempting to hit the dragon with arrows I am dumb founded. It just flys in circles overhead and wont attack.

Anyone see this or have a fix? Somethng im doing wrong?im level 7 or 8, killed 2 or 3 dragons now

It may not have noticed you, or it may have decided to have better plans than actually attacking.

Some dragons are more reserved. Some have bad eyesight. Others go bat[censored] insane. Be careful.

I was walking towards Riften and found a dragon that didn't attack. It eventually flew away. Kinda sad since I have more locked words than dragon souls to unlock them at the moment.

The creatures in my game clearly did not receive that memo.

Happens to me all the time. At least once a night it seems, we turn on Skyrim and run into a dragon that won't land and I can't hit with the bow. Hoping that the zoom and slow time perks for archery will help, but for now, we just have to make do with the fact that some dragons will land practically right on top of us, and some won't give us the time of day. I play with my wife passing the controller back and forth, thus the "we/us".

Got attacked by a blood dragon while on a mountainside. I nearly killed him, then he flew away, the craven bastard! Then the next day I fast traveled toward the general Riften area (still far from it, near the bubbly areas) and another blood dragon damn near landed on me. Between dragon shouting and hitting it with my sword, as well as some help from the nearby fort, it didn't last long.

I'm glad my problem is not enough shouts... I have 4 souls just waiting for a new shout.

Hit it with a ranged attack (Lightning spells work best) to start combat. Not all dragons will immediately aggro on the PC. Kind of frustrating, but it makes sense.

It's not a bug, the dragon just doesn't care about you. Happened to me too...

Try shouting at it.

Every time I find a dragon that doesn't like landing; or just favors gliding in the clouds over my head... taunting me...

Simply point toward him and use your Unrelenting Force shout; without fail every time I've done this the dragon goes ape-#%&.
Its like Fus Ro Dah is some string of expletives oriented toward the dragon's mother.

Happens to me all the time. I'm 29 and maybe a dozen or so dragons have been passive and refused to land. I've shot dozens of arrows at them and they just refuse. Only like 1 in 5 of the random dragons actually take their time to attack anything for me.

I've had dragons fly around and ignore me, and I've had 3 dragons attack me at once. Its completely random and you never know whats gonna happen.

From what I understand:

Spoiler
This is the original black dragon from the starting scene at the keep, he seems to be following you but if you notice on the compass he doesnt show up at an enemy (red dot), eventually he flies off.

This has happened to me with every dragon i have encountered (about 8 or 9 in total)
In my experience even unrelenting force and shooting with arrows has not made a difference, what has worked is to walk to the nearest,camp/fort/watchtower etc and start a fight with the bandits or whatever is occupying them,
the dragon seems to get angry when i do this and start to attack them as well,it does make it extra hard as while you are attacking the dragon they will try to attack you but most of the time the dragon will concentrate attacks on them and wipe them out long before you manage to kill it.
It will carry on coming back to attack you after this, this is the only way i have ever been able to get a dragon to land. (apart from when i was attacked by 2 dragons)
The first random encounter i had i wasted 90 minutes trying to get it to land in all sorts of attacks and running to open spaces etc before i tried this

I get this alot too, At one point today I had two dragons circling me o.O and it's a pain since they're too fast for an accurate shot with a bow and out of range of my shouts.

I've had this happen to me too, kinda glad as I was in no state to take on a dragon. He just flew around Whiterun and I walked off towards the Valtheim tower. When I came back later, he was gone.

This. There are some Dragons that simply don't attack. Some will go after food and completely ignore you unless you pose a serious threat and some just fly around. I've encountered several dragons now that are too preoccupied to deal with me. Two in particular were just interested in killing nearby animals, then they flew off before I could get there.

I like it actually...makes you think they're in their own world as the big kid on the block and you're just some ant to them. Makes them seem more life like.

I'm a hiker and have run into bears on several occasions...while not packing a sword and sheild I admittedly felt a bit more cautious but they act in a very similiar way. YOU are in THEIR world, and they are the big kid....the animal AI designer really knew his stuff.

I had a similar issue with a Dragon above Dawnstar. I wanted to lure it away from the town a bit as I hate having Dragon Skeletons blocking the roads etc. However, the thing just would not attack me, despite the fact that I had hit it with a couple of spells, until I went down into the Town and engaged it there.

The Dragon flying around the river below the college wouldn't land for me either. I shouted, shot it with arrow, and sparked it but it wouldn't land. What a wussy.

I keep seeing these threads constantly. There is nothing wrong with the Dragons in the game. I have killed numerous ones and fought a few that after a few minutes wimped out and flew away.
