The only reason why I don't ride a horse...

Post » Mon May 14, 2012 5:29 pm

is because I cannot pick up alchemy ingredients while riding to my destination. Well, not without a hassle each time I spot one. Does anyone else not ride horses for this reason?

I don't ride a horse because I have to worry about it. Where will it go when I get off of it?
I never liked using transport in games. I just like to stay on my feet.

I don't ride a horse because in the beginning, I would dismount and he'd kill everything then later on he runs off and you have to fast travel to get him, to me its not worth it I'd rather hoof it.

Horses once again kind of svck. I hate the fact that if I run into an npc the hOrse either runs away and I have to find it afterwards or it fights which is just as annoying. Patch please!!

I used Shadowmere for a while, but I rode him off a cliff and he died. He was stuck at some Daedric shrine until I got him sometime later.

I don't ride horses as often since mine keeps launching off rocks in sprint mode. The rocks are on flat ground, but the horse launches anyways o.O

It's still useful if I'm careful, though. Not too fussed about alchemy ingredients; I don't do alchemy any more with this character since discovering I couldn't poison my bound blade.

Perhaps a poor choice of words?

I used my horse for awhile until he died helping me kill a dragon. Haven't gotten another one, it was annoying have to dismount to fight stuff and whatnot.

considering that they're barely faster than running on foot, the hassle is really not worth it. having to dismount every time something attacks or you see an alchemy ingredient, having to find the horse after it wanders off, unable to talk to anyone or interact with anything, having to be in 3rd person, having to deal with the stupid thing trying to help you in combat...

it seems to me like bethesda spent all their time and effort making the horse's animations up to the standard set by red dead redemption and no time or effort on making you actually want to use the bloody things.

Gathering is one of the reasons I don't ride horses. I also think it's a waste of 1,000 gold and no matter how many times I walk past the same river it's still amazing looking.

I still like riding my horse although it gets annoying when he runs off and I can't find him.

We should have a way of roping it to a tree or post or something.

Same. I pick up tons of flowers when traveling. If I want to travel fast, i'll fast travel. If I want to go somewhere in person, i'll walk. Much more enjoyable.

I don't ride them because I play a Dunmer; I eat them.

Who needs horses when you have silt striders? :meh:

Ah, good thing I'm not alone in this. I'm glad the horses look better and control more smoothly, but the inconvenience of not being able to do anything while riding them and forcing you to dismount for everything is rather annoying. Not taking into account bugs, horses are just not that appetizing, except for Dunmers apparently. :P

The bugger cost me 1000gold, .. and it died 5 minutes later. So I reloaded and I'll go without one now. What a pointless beast

I'm too cheap to buy one, (So what if I'm rich.:P) and lack the attention span to keep track of the free, not stolen, but free horses I've found.

I never liked using transport in games. I just like to stay on my feet.

I was fighting a troll and after i killed it, i couldn′t find my horse. Maybe it was there somewhere but i couldn′t see it in the dark.
I found it again one or two days later when i came back to that area. This time i had Lydia with me. I felt bad because she had to run behind me all the time

I killed it accidentally today by jumping from too high.

But to answer your question, the horse doesn′t go anywhere if you leave it somewhere.
