Menu woes

Hi All

Apologies if this has already been covered but I've been computerless for a few days now.

Am I the only one who misses Oblivion's intuitive menus?

I'm playing on 360 & not only do you have to press 2 different buttons for quests & abilities/items but there's also no quick select wheel for the D pad.

I know this has the up/down 'favorites' D pad option but it's nowhere near as good.

And what's with not being able to cast a spell unless you're armed? How annoying! If I want to heal while retreating from a marauding enemy I HAVE to be armed therefore slowing me down & allowing said marauder to attack me more. What gives Bethesda? You're supposed to make this stuff better not worse!

The actual game itself, story, graphics, setting, voices etc etc are all superb it's just the menus slow everything right down to the point of ruining my experience. They're supposed to help not hinder!

I disagree. I am on 360 and find the menu much more smooth and easier to use than Oblivions. Everything about it is better in my opinion.

I have gotten used to everything except the inability to heal while unarmed.

What an absolutely egregious mess-up that is on Bethesda's part!

Fair enough that other spells should be used only when armed as (for the most part) they are weaponized spells (flame, frost, shock etc) but healing is different.

If you're using a 2 handed weapon & need to heal, you then have to open the menu (even the favorites one) select healing which then leaves you unarmed then heal, heal, heal Oh dear, I'm dead AGAIN because I'm being attacked & can't run away fast enough because I'M ARMED!!!

hy did they think this was a good idea??

Yeah, the UI svcks. Even on PC with hotkeys and shortcuts. A real step back from Oblivion.
