Is the new patch actually going to fix the lag?

Post » Tue May 15, 2012 12:15 am

I'm really enjoying the game at the moment - it's simply amazing. However like many of you I've hit the point of lag.

Fortunately the game runs pretty much fine for about 2 hours so it isn't completely broken but it really needs patching and shouldn't have been in the game to begin with since it fallout also had this problem.

Bethesda, you really need to tell us if you are actually working on fixing this. All that has been said is that a patch is coming for all platforms but the ps3 players really need to know if this potential game-breaking bug will be fixed by the next patch.

All I can say now is for people to keep telling Bethesda the problem so they now that it is a priority.

If the patch can't fix it, then they need to do a product recall immediately, so they can properly work on the PS3 version.

Given the amount of feedback on this subject alone, I would be flabbergasted if it was not addressed in the patch.

Now I say addressed because I have a feeling it will be better, not fixed.

If they don't fix this, they'll lose MILLIONS so I'm sure they'll fix it, or make it much better at least. Question is how LONG it will take.

My guess is late November - mid December.

The newest what we have so far is this....

Skyrim Patch Timeframe Unclear; Bethesda Working on Creation Kit and Bug Fixes
Posted in News on 16th November, 2011

There are a lot of issues with Skyrim, and Bethesda is trying to fix them all, but if the issue you have still persists even after the patch, Pete Hines, community manager for Bethesda Games said that he really doesn’t know if it it will fix whatever issues people are experiencing.

“We will fix as much as we can for your platform. I don’t know if it will fix “your” bug. Takes a while to test/fix/regress. Hang in there,” he said.

He was also unsure about the ETA for the patch, as players are getting quite angry as we reported earlier. Most of the issues are seen in the console version, which is obvious since it’s such a huge game.

He also said that they are working on the creation kit and the bug fixes together.

“Sorry, not going to give timeframes on this. We’re able to do both at the same time.”

Lets hope it’s not a huge wait, as it can get really complicated with such a huge game. Hines said that he doesn’t know what the update will fix either.

“I don’t know what the update will address until their completely done with it. Things change all the time.”

We all waiting now......(how long????....if i judge from the other two patches 1.1 and 2.0 i thing they will be a patch until end of the Month....)

It won't be fixed, I don't think they can solve this kind of issue over a patch. patches are supposed to fix minor bugs or glitches, such as quest problems, item problems, but save file issues memory leaks and all that, I don't believe it would be fixable via update, and even if it gets better we will still have the problem once were very advanced in the game. I would simply recommend getting your money back. BEthesda obviously didn't give a damn about ps3 owners, they make some profit of it but all their attention goes to x360 and pc. Lets all get our money back and learn our lesson as hopefully bethesda learn theirs not to [censored] mess with us, and if they can't release a decent bug free game, then at least they will learn not to get our hopes up cause the game is brilliant, but it's just broken. Let's teach these [censored] a lesson and take our money back, they don't deserve it.

Nah, Pete isn't going to fix anything he's planning his "vacay" at the moment. Besides that caveat of "I don’t know if it will fix “your” bug." is their way of saying "Oh sorry guys, we don't see it as a big enough issue for enough people to justify working on it."

Of course the code for XBOX360 are definitely easier as it is based on the DirectX PC versions....but it's not an option not to fix the PS3 version as well....

remember a game is a code...patches are parts of the code too.....therefore its very likely to fix that....

I thing the problem is that bethesda have overestimated they knowledge for such a huge game....and the results are not very pleasant....

For me speaking a have already bought the game....and i played many hours....i would suggest we give them i time frame here because the uniqueness off the game...

It's the largest open world non linear game ever (up to today....)

Does anyone know how one would go about getting a refund for this game? Bethesda will never get my money again. NEVER.

This game isn't just bugged, the PS3 version is effectively broken. You'd think they would respond to this kind of news just days after release with a quick, "Don't worry, patch is on it's way, it will be fixed!", but no, they haven't even acknowledged the problem and these forums are virtually pointless.

Because of this and their track record, it's not going to be fixed. They will just keep dangling the patch carrot in front of your noses.

I'm thinking the same. I'm so happy I chose not get the Collector's Edition, I was so very close to ordering that.

You might be able to return it to the place you purchased it.

Just say it's broken.

Maybe we should wait until after the patch before boycotting Bethesda completely lol

They said that a patch is being released for all 3 systems. The most reported issue for the PS3 is the lag. I am sure that is at the top of the list for the PS3 patch, just like how the texture issue is very important to get fixed with the 360.

Why? They sold you crap fully knowing it was crap.

That's right, don't believe for a second they did not know about this and the texture scaling bug. A problem this big does not get through QA. Did they even do QA?

Um, because I am having fun with the game and I personally don't think it is 'crap'. I think it is a giant game that will have bugs. I am sure they did QA, but I am betting the QA they did on the PS3 versions was on the newer machines. From the countless threads I have read on this subject, it seems that newer PS3s are not nearly as affected as the older models (not in every circumstance obviously, but generally)

That is probably just hearsay, but it is the overall vibe I have been getting.

I've been reading the same threads as you and asking the people who post their videos on youtube, and that is simply not true. Happens to everyone at some point, no matter what.

Assuming the patch will actually fix the problem... I honestly don't care about a couple of broken quests and a guy thats stuck in a wall.... they need to focus on the framerate problem.

Well we can complain, a lot. Just the thought of someone going in to a game store right now and giving them another 60$ makes my blood boil. This cannot stand.

I'll be honest, i don't expect this to be fixed. Their track record speaks for it self.

I'm hoping it is their much publicized track record that makes them more eager to fix the issue.
